Harissa Chicken Skewers Ingredients
• 2 boneless, skinless chicken breast
• 4 tbsp harissa paste (harissa recipe in description box)
• 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp paprika
• 2 tsp lemon juice
• 1 tsp lemon zest
• 2 tsp olive oil
• 2 tbsp finely chopped parsley/cilantro
• 1 tsp olive oil
• 1/2 tsp lemon juice
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/4 tsp pepper
Harissa Chicken Recipe Step by Step
Step 1: Prep the chicken. Cut the chicken into bite-sized cubes.
Step 2: Make the harissa marinade. In a bowl, mix harissa paste, salt, pepper, lemon juice, lemon zest, paprika, parsley, and olive oil.
Step 3: Marinate the chicken. Add chicken pieces to the bowl and coat well. Let it marinate for 30 minutes or chill for 2-4 hours for a deeper flavour.
Step 4: Prep vegetables for skewers. Cut onions and bell peppers into cubes. Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
Step 5: Prepare wooden skewers. Soak skewers in water for 30 minutes so they don’t burn. Trim them if needed to fit your grill pan.
Step 6: Assemble the skewers. Thread chicken and veggies on each skewer, alternating pieces for even cooking.
Step 7: Heat the grill pan. Warm a grill pan over medium heat. Add 1 2 tsp oil.
Step 8: Grill the harissa chicken skewers. Place skewers on the pan. Sear for 2-3 minutes, baste with oil, flip, and cook all sides until chicken is cooked through.
Step 9: Check doneness. Chicken should look white inside and juicy, not pink.
Step 10: Serve the grilled skewers. Serve your harissa chicken skewers hot with yellow rice, pulao, salad, or flatbread.
