A daytime cafe helmed by chef Giles Clark, ex-sous at Yess next door. Food is a mixture of old-school Japanese kissaten hits with a heavy British influence and seasonal Californian produce. Chef puts in a few new items almost on a weekly basis, and I've enjoyed pretty much everything there. Pictured here in order are smoked bluefin tuna, egg salad sando with a tangy sweet relish, fried squid with saffron rice and bouillabaisse, locally foraged porcini risotto, and probably the best katsu sando this side of LA.

Looks fantastic — but what an unfortunate name!

Edit: LOL, can’t give an opinion here? Come on.

Reviews mention a lot of undercooked pork and chicken?

  3. Katsu sandwich is so good. I unfortunately though had my entire bag with my laptop, keys and wallet stolen from their patio and when I asked them to review the tapes and gave them my contact info, they didn’t do anything at all. 🥲 Still make a nice katsu sammich though.

This place and Yess next door are two of my favorite restaurants in LA

Did they actually cut the crusts off those sandwiches?! That would actually be incredible.
