Been wanting to do this cook for a while, but was successful in making naan on the inside of the dome. Now, this was done on my third cook of a new EGG, so probably would want to make sure that there wasn’t a lot of creosote on the dome. Will play around with the dough recipe, but overall was pleased. Once these puffed up and blistered, I moved them to the direct grate to char up a bit more.

I have a decent tandoori chicken recipe that would be even better with fresh Naan. I’ll have to try this.

  2. While I understand what you were doing, I do not trust what kind of soot it would pick up if I tried to do this in my egg.

Can you share the recipe or did you sign a naan disclosure agreement?

Your dome must be cleaner than mine! I bet it was good though

  5. I was all prepared to praise this as I have not seen it done before…then realized the reason why it probably shouldn’t be done is the dome soot.

  6. Does it fall off once it has baked to a certain point?

The BGE sales guy here told me people do this. I always wondered how it’d be clean enough, but I’d like to try it.

Cut to a new BGE official new product: Naan Dome Insert

Wonder if you could put parchment paper down, or maybe foil if the dome was dirty?

I read the title and was like yeeeuuhh, I could never on mine, there’s like an 1/8” of…crust in mine.

Wouldn’t a pizza stone work for this as well?

That’s a fantastic idea!!!! How’d it turn out?

Your dome is much cleaner than mine. After 20’years of smoking I’m not touching food to mine.

Couldn’t you just do this on the plate setter and avoid having to clean all the creosote off the dome first?

    Huh….. huh…..hm.mmmmmm deep thought.

I bet we could use some sort kind of terracotta or stainless steel surface and put that in the BGE. I’m imagining attaching a stainless steel bowl to the top or sitting a terracotta cylinder above the coals

6 months later you will never do this again

Looks like there’s something on there to me

The top of my dome looks like ass with so much build up. I could not do this.

    How are people cleaning theirs?
