If you have any veggies, you can sauté them & add them in to build in the flavor.

I love adding a splash of red wine vinegar to my tomato dishes. I know tomato is already pretty acidic but I like the little extra sourness that another acid adds to a sauce. Plus you only need a little bit to make the flavor slightly more complex, and you can use to to add depth to other dishes as well, so a small bottle will last you a long time and isn’t too expensive.

No one is mentioning cream? When you make the pasta sauce before the tomato sauce goes in add some shallots and garlic, cook for a minute or two, add tomato sauce, reduce, add heavy cream, reduce and adjust viscosity with pasta water. Finish with grated parm.
Boom. Restaurant meal for only a buck or two

Depending on how expensive vegetables are where you live, onion, carrot and celery really add flavor + some fiber. Usually you would dice them tiny by hand, but in my experience you can cube them and then blend the sauce after it’s done cooking if you dont care about the texture change (wait until its cold/room temperature, or use immersion blender)
Also cream

Chili flakes and a bit of pecorino I’d eat that bowl in 3 mins.
The best way to enjoy pasta is to make your own sauce. I love a mean Sunday sauce with Italian sausage, ribs, triple mix meatballs.

All the other suggestions you have are good, but adding a little pat of butter (maybe 2 teaspoon worth but it’s flexible) and 1-4 tablespoon of starchenated pasta water can really elevate the texture of pasta sauce.

Honestly just adding a can of beans to it would make it more filling and ad some protein and fiber. I have eaten in a budget like this before and just a small can of kidney beans or black beans does wonders and tastes good with any kind of tomato sauce.

Throw a tin of tuna in with it and some fried onion, courgette and peppers. Mix it all up. Stick it in an oven proof dish with some grated cheddar on top and bake for 10 – 15 mins and you’ve got a nice tuna pasta bake.

Low effort – wilt some spinach into the sauce. I like to just chuck the salad aisle bag into the freezer and take what I need.
Medium effort – soak and cook some red lentils and blend (or smash) them into the sauce for added protein and fiber.

Canned chicken and shaker cheese would be a massive improvement. Also get some store brand seasonings like onion, garlic, and Italian. Canned chicken is $1.24 a can here and that will give you a big bite of protein to fuel your body.

Truly, I would destroy that bowl.
