I recently decided to take the leap and start my first indoor grow project. What started with a few seeds has turned into a little obsession of mine. I'm currently running seedlings, pioneers (the medium sized ones) and a few overwintered veterans (the 3 big ones).

the setup:

lighting: Spider Farmer Glow80 (currently running 40W) + a 36W "Spider Legs" lamp for side-lighting and spot treatment (total ~116w potential)

substrate: starting in jiffies, moving to a mix of veggie soil, perlite, and coco coir

climate: ~21.7°C (thanks to LED heat), running a fan 4h/day on my seedlings to fight off early signs of damping off on the sensitive Chinenses

the chilis (15 Plants total):

Aji Charapita (struggling but surviving) & Habanero Orange (theyre growing like weeds)

African Birdseye & standard Birdseye

Aji Limo & 3 overwintered veterans (strain unclear, taste like mild peppers)

Looking forward to the 2026 harvest. Any tips?

Is the lighting (116w total) enough for them to produce some chilis in a couple of months?

Side note: If you're wondering about the acoustic foam in the background: yes, this entire setup is built right inside my office / under my desk

Did you remove the lower leaves?

    If you did, why?

Hoping it was temperatures, change in environment or pests?

Growing peppers is so much fun! My only recommendation would be to elevate the seedlings closer to the lights. If all goes well in a few weeks you’ll be out of room 😉
