So after a couple of weeks of unboxing my new machine, and scrolling this sub and going through countless posts on how to improve… I finally got a shot within the espresso zone! Basically, I had to go to a local coffee shop and get fresh beans. And bam, perfect pull.
I know a lot of people just instantly come here and ask for help, but thanks to anyone who has
Ever replied to someone asking for help here. It was very beneficial. I feel like I just climbed Rushmore!

It’s a great feeling! Personally I like it around 12:30-1 o’clock, but it’s preference at that point.
It takes a few tries and usually a few different types of beans but eventually you’ll get there and know how to dial it in! We will use a few different kinds of beans but not too much variety so I don’t have to spend too much time dialing everything back in. I’m sure you’ve already read it on here, but the type of bean, the grind amount and size, and the tamping is all a factor. You have a great machine, my friend. I’ve had the same one since 2019 and it’s still going strong!
Each tick is supposed to represent 2 bar so you have it right in the sweet spot of 9 bar. Depending on my grind mine bounces between 9-11 until its dialed in. Taste doesn’t change much that I have noticed. So, satisfying when you get everything tuned properly.
Good stuff! Next, get yourself a scale for under your cup to measure yield. 1:2 for dark roasts, 1:3 for lighter roasts.
If you want more pressure, considering going down 1 grind size or upping dose by .5g.
Thank you! Been measuring exactly 18g which has helped.
I have wasted 1 week and 125 in coffee and oat milk and still not in zone,,,Gaggia e24 and fellow opus,,,my guess is that the opus sucks
So am I the only one here that can get crema with not so fresh beans from the supermarket? I know the science suggests beans within a month of roasting are optimal but I’ve gotten more than adequate crema from 6 month old coffee beans. And no, I am not using a pressurized basket.
