As my Tabasco bottles (and other brands) became empty, I wanted to try something I never had: El Yucateco Salsas.
As an European I only ever saw it in this sub. So when I saw a whole set to taste during Black Friday, I just bought it!
I started with the famous green one: really great, spicyer than the Tabasco Green, but tasty!
My goal was to get away from hotness and get more flavours… I hope I made the right choice.
What should I open next from this set?

The XXX gets the most love in this sub but my personal favorite is the Caribbean.
No but seriously, red, carribean and xxx – ive never tried the black one, seems to have mixed reviews here. Carribean is delicious but needs more heat and doesnt seem to have as many applications. XXX is my favorite, and I could put it on anything. Definitely in my top 3 favorite hot sauces.
Can you order from their website? They have a good price for sets for USA.
They are all good. Well I’m not personally a fan of the black label, but the rest are solid sauces. Open them all and enjoy.

Xxxxtra Picante is the bomb
The carribean is the best out of those. I didn’t care much for the others. If you’re looking to get something hotter in your next batch, the ghost habanero one is also good.

Mayan recipe is my FOAT
I stick a toothpick (clean) in each and go from there.
I love making eggs (however you like) and trying each sauce on them…
me I also pick the hottest one first…its rare they are really that hot.

I rank them best to worst. Caribbean, red, black, xxx, green.
Green, Caribbean, Red, XXX, and I’d just throw the black in the trash. Try it though, see what side of the fence you’re on. Its probably their most divisive sauce.
Extra Picante – Chile Habanero any day!!
I’d make a little flight, my buffer with new sauce is cream cheese, so I’ll do a bagel chip or something pretty neutral with a bit of cream cheese then sauce it up.
Might be a hot take, not sure how people feel about the cream cheese but I personally find it a tasty way to try a new sauce and have a bit of buffer in case I over shot my heat threshold.
Bummer you didn’t get Chiltepin! I would have had that instead of the green one that I don’t really like the taste of.

They all have their place but the triple X hot remains an all time favorite after all my life so far still
