I live in the mountains and this is the only store besides Walmart for 40+ minutes away, the local butcher sells his ribeye for $22-$23 a pound. Hamburg prices are 7.49-7.99 here as well.

Is this normal prices?

What do you pay?

Use the flipp app to see what grocery stores have steak on sale.

For tenderloin this is normal for my area.

Some around me and I live in a city. Went to the grocery store yesterday and they had NY Strip on “sale” for $18.99/lb. 6 months ago nornal price was $15.99/lb and I could get it on sale for under 10.

£30 quid a KG in uk and bear in mind that includes 20% VAT. so yes that seems OTT, does not look great either. This being said getting shit into the mountain is not trivial and there is a price for that.

Bone in ribeye on special is $8.99 a pound in San Diego.

You can get decent sirloin for 6 dollars a pound at safeway all the time here in Oregon. It’s gone down to 5 dollars this year and even 4 dollars in prevous years.

  7. This also looks like it’ll be edible for about another 48 hours maybe.

Welcome to the world of beef. Ranchers are racking in the bucks. I refuse to buy beef at these prices. There is only one way to bring the prices down. And I don’t have to tell you how

This store is scamming shoppers, ALL meat should be labeled with USDA sticker or printed on the label by law, Select, Choice or USDA Prime. Report it to the store manager. if they refuse to do anything report them to the local Heath department and an inspector will come un-announced to inspect their meat depo they wont like those fine’s.. 😅

I think they’re just charging you more than everyone else because you can’t spell and they assume that means you’re equally bad with numbers.

I live in MO. Yes meat is ridiculous. Depending on the grocery store a ribeye (my favorite) is 20.00-25.00 / lb. I’ve gone to strips or t-bones. And yes, I realize this isn’t even first world level problem.

This is criminal. Even for a fillet it’s overpriced by 30-35%. Hamburger should be closer to $5 per lb for lean.

    in Ohio here.

Chuck roast is 10 bucks a pound.

I wouldn’t say you’re prices are too off. tenderloin isn’t very good anyways so ierno what the price is.

  14. UncomfyPerspective

It’s ridiculous, yes, but it looks like pretty standard beef pricing as of late. It can be both ridiculous and standard.

Don’t buy meat from anyone who calls a steak a Delmonico. They either don’t know what they’re doing or are trying to scam you into paying more for a plain old ribeye with a fancy sounding name.

  16. Jesus. Imagine paying $34 per pound for the most overrated cut of meat in the entire cow.

  17. Wonderful-Loss827

    Do not buy then.
Buy from the local guy or buy pork.

You are seeing these prices because you live in the mountains.

Beef prices have gone up everywhere but not like this. Change your meat habits until it comes back down.

That’s an okay price for tenderloin. When I factor in exchange rate, my store here in Canadaland is about USD$5/lb cheaper, but most of our competitors charge the same that you’re seeing.

The rib steak was on the high side, though it’s Certified Angus Beef…so that’s a premium price there.

I’m a meat cutter in an expensive supermarket chain in the northeast. Charging that much for a filet mignon, someone should call the cops
