I only heard of this pastry but never had a chance to try before. Supposedly there is this cafe called Kona Coffee Purveyors in Oahu Hawaii that is very well known for their black sesame and different variety of kouign-amann. I couldn’t try them when I was in Hawaii because their line was insanely crazy that I gave up LOL.

So when I heard TJ carrying kouign amann, I had to get them to try. Unfortunately they were sold out at my last two visit, I finally went in early morning and was able to grab them. It was $5.49 and there are four inside.

The instruction says to let them rise for 5-7 hours.. I left them rise overnight and baked them (although I burnt them a little as I began with 400 not 375). They are so buttery and flaky with caramelized center. So yummy. Just don’t look at the Nutrition Facts for calories 😂
