she said she bought it behind my back during one of our trips to Bariloche.

It even had a QR code with this link: https://invidious.io/watch?v=aYNX4Iy8b\_k

Very high end Malbec, your wife must still like you 😉

Whats the vintage? 2021? It’s hard to make out.

It’s approximately a $100 bottle from the premier vineyard in Argentina. After that, it’s your decision.

Catena Malbec! Recently had this and it was very, very good. Hang on to it for a special occasion or hell, just open it when you feel like turning a random Friday into a special occasion.

One of my all time favorite wines from an awesome producer. The winemaker is actually also an ER physician, she flies into CA and still does shifts from time to time. Badass

that’s one of my favorite wines! the bottle is stunning and depicts the history of the malbec grape

Spectacular Malbec. I got to taste it at a tasting run by our local Catena Zapata rep.

that’s a beautiful malbec. Personally I would wait a few years to open.

Super high-end Argentinian Malbec. I’ve had the pleasure of drinking both the 2019 and 2021 vintage. The 2021 was drinking great when I had it but it could use more time. But life is short, if you wanted to open it now for a steak dinner, I’m sure you’ll love it! In addition to being a great wine, it has my favorite label I’ve ever seen.

I had a taste from a bottle of 2005 two months back and can confirm that it ages beautifully if you wish to cellar it.

I’ve been drinking Catena Malbec for over a decade but never explored or necessarily seen higher end vintages in Chicago. The label is exquisite so I’d prob add that bottle to the shelf I have reserved for “too awesome to open- ever”!

a great high-end Malbec, if it’s still young, let it rest for 5-10 yrs. It’s actually one of the top wines from Catena Zapata

  12. Inevitablykinda

I’d hold onto it for 3-4 years, more if you want. But that’s what I’d do

Nice bottle. Open it for Christmas or New Years! Cheers!

Nice wine but extremely young. I just bought a case of their 2004 and 2005. Should still be drinkable. Will pair well with steak.

Fantastic shit, you should definitely drink it with a steak dinner but maybe in 2031

Need pictures on three more pillows to be sure.

Catena Argentino Malbec. This is a blend of fruit from their highest elevation vineyard (Adrianna at 5000 ft in Gualtallary) and their lowest elevation vineyard (Angelica at 2800 ft in Maipu). Fruit from some of their oldest vines makes it into this wine, therefore providing more concentration and resulting in a more ageworthy wine. Not to say that you can’t drink it now. It is entirely up to your own personal preference. If you enjoy more fruit forward and rich wines, find a special occasion in the near future, even if it’s just a date night at home with the wife and open this along side a nice meal. Aged Malbec is beautiful from the best producers, but life is fleeting and great wines are best enjoyed with the ones we love! Your wife obviously loves you if she picked this up as a surprise.

  18. Definitely an ageworthy Malbec, but life is short so if you want to try it I don’t think you need to wait.

Good quality Malbec, only had a bottle of this once at a restaurant and though Malbec isn’t my absolute favourite wine – this was impressive.

Had some of their 20 year library releases, very ageable. I would suggest laying it down for at least 5 years.

No that is a beautiful bottle of wine from Zapata. The label is the story of phylloxera and the rebirth. The wine inside is amazing, holding on to it isn’t a bad idea but a random week night wine would also be showstopping.

  22. Drauschke

It is one THE best malbecs coming out of Argentina. And that says something

I had this year 2017, and I’d recommend not to wait for too long with this one, it didn’t seem like it’s getting better, and new world Malbecs are good to enjoy when young
