AIKEN — A new Northside restaurant, scheduled to open early in 2026, will serve Italian food, but it might be different from what some people would expect.
David Meunier’s plan is for La Scuderia Pizzeria to offer something different from what already is available locally.
The restaurant is scheduled to make its debut at 455 York St. N.E. on or before Jan. 15.
“The pasta is not going to be swimming in sauce,” Meunier said. “It’s going to be pasta with a little sauce on top of it.
“You can eat healthy and light [while] eating Italian,” the entrepreneur added.
Examples of the options that will be on the menu can be viewed on the La Scuderia — Aiken page on Facebook.
They include basil pesto pasta with pine nuts and shaved Parmesan cheese. Also featured is rigatoni with tomato cream sauce and shaved Italian cheeses.
“We’re going to have beef carpaccio, and we’re going to have truffle risotto,” Meunier said.
La Scuderia’s pizza will be baked in a wood-fired oven.
In the name of 865 Marion Ct S LLC, Meunier purchased the property where La Scuderia will be located for $135,000 in October 2021.
The building there is undergoing an extensive renovation.
Meunier will own La Scuderia in partnership with Randy Stamm, the founder and former owner of Prime Steakhouse.
Across York Street, at what used to be Back To Basics Auto Detailing, La Scuderia customers will able to get their vehicles hand-washed while they dine.
The facility “will have basically the same [business] hours as the restaurant,” Meunier said.
La Scuderia is Italian for “the stable.”
Work done on the exterior of the eatery’s future home has given it a barn-like appearance.
Meunier’s experiences as a horseman inspired him to choose the name La Scuderia.
He is a polo player and the owner of a polo club between Aiken and Wagener.
