Lancaster kids stunned by holiday lights surprise on their home

A dad in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, surprised his kids with a full Christmas lights display on their house, and their reaction was full of holiday magic.

Planning and preparing a Christmas feast can be more stressful than joyful, so here are some alternatives to consider that can make serving a holiday meal more enjoyable at Christmastime.

The Fez, 2312 Brodhead Road, Hopewell Township, has a holiday take-out menu featuring three family dinner bundles and a selection of a la carte main and side dishes for Christmas. Food can be ordered as hot and ready to go or cold with reheat instructions. Orders must be placed by Dec. 18; call 724-378-18109 or order through the website. All orders must be prepaid and picked up on either Dec. 23 or 24, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Two Chefs Catering Cafe, 2405 Brodhead Road, Hopewell Township, is offering a selection of prepared menu items for Christmas, chilled for pickup with reheat instructions included. Choices include wedding soup, tossed salad with dressing, glazed baked ham, meatballs, hot sausage, chicken tenders, rolls and butter. Orders are due by 2 p.m. on Dec. 17; call 724-203-0284 to order. Email orders not accepted. Orders must be picked up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 24.

Bob Evans restaurants offer several Farmhouse Feast meals (packed cold and ready to reheat) and a Holiday Hot Family Meal (packed hot and ready to eat) to serve six to eight people. Meals include turkey and/or ham, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, rolls and a pie. A single-plate premium celebration platter is also available, served hot. Orders can be placed online through the Bob Evans website or by contacting your local restaurant.

Cracker Barrel restaurants offer several holiday heat-and-serve dinners for the holidays, to serve four to six or eight to 10 people. Order a sugar-cured ham or prime rib dinner, or choose a heat-and-serve side dish bundle to go with your own main dish. Meals and side dishes are served cold and include reheat instructions. Pies and breakfast items are also available to order for pickup. Order online at the Cracker Barrel website or contact your local restaurant.

Giant Eagle and Market District offer holiday dinner meals that serve up to six people. Choose from spiral-sliced ham, whole turkey or turkey breast, prime rib or lamb shank dinner bundles with side dishes provided. Meats and side dishes can also be ordered à la carte, and extra sides and desserts can be added to the order. Meals will be prepared and served cold, with reheat instructions. All orders must be placed by Dec. 16 at the Giant Eagle or Market District website or in person at your local store; orders must be picked up in store from Dec. 21-24 or Dec. 27-31.

For some cookies and other desserts to finish the meal, Little Athens Catering in Ambridge has a variety of items to choose from this season, including baklava, cookies, brownie bites and rice pudding. Call 724-318-8218 by Dec. 18 to order.
