As per the title, this is my first experience in espresso machines! I had a Delonghi bean to cup, which was on its last legs after 7000 cups of coffee! So went straight into the deep end with the coffee station.

Super excited to start dialing this in, spent a long time learning about all things espresso.

Are there any must haves? I got myself some puck screens and that is it for now.

Hah, love it when folk go big right off the bat. Great looking machine, sure other ppl will suggest things but I just wanna congratulate you on the setup. Make mistakes and keep the faith 👏👌

As a fellow espresso noob I found a self-leveling spring-calibrated tamper to be very helpful when dialing in. Also you will need a knock box to get the puck out of the basket. I use a floor-mounted, pedal-operated, self-closing 13-gallon model from Hefty 🙂

That’s a crazy first setup wow 😂 straight into the deep end, love it

You’ve already nailed the big stuff. Grinder quality, fresh beans, and a repeatable routine will matter way more than chasing accessories right now

If you don’t already have one, a good 58mm tamper and a scale with 0.1g resolution make a big difference for consistency. A simple WDT tool helps too

From there I’d honestly just slow it down and learn the machine. One change at a time, lots of reps, plenty of imperfect shots

Enjoy it, that setup deserves it 👌

And way down the line, if you do end up upgrading tampers, I’ve built my own self levelling tamper kit that launched recently . Totally optional, but happy to share, I’d genuinely love your thoughts. You can also find it in my recent posts.

Nice one, make sure you read the maintenance guides, this will differ a bit from your Delongi and you want to keep it tip top.

Also suggest lowering the steam pressure to start with, it is a beast 🙂

  5. Wow. Dude went hard right off the rip. Hopefully, this is a hobby that sticks for you. My GF is the type of person that gets super interested in something and then the magic fades after like 3 weeks and she doesnt care about whatever it was anymore.

Great noobie budget set up. Lmk if you want recommendations in future upgrades

  7. This is like getting your drivers license and going straight to the Ferrari dealership 😂

I would also get the silver if I get a La Marzocco. Looks so nice! What grinder is that? Equally as expensive? Might as well go all in and save yourself the lower and medium tier machines so you’re happy for many years. As long as something gives you joy I say it’s money well spent!

  9. For starters a good orientation is grinder at least same price if not higher than the machine. So time to upgrade to EG1 😂

Thought I was in circlejerk for a sec there 😭

  11. That’s a nice little machine it should hold you over for a year or two

  12. First espresso machine? That explains the budget choice…

    Congrats!

Tamper, milk frothing pitcher(assuming you like milk drinks) and most importantly good, fresh, speciality coffee worthy of your investment.

There’s a million things you can spend money on after that and they’ll be plenty of time. Enjoy!

  14. Buy once. Cry once. Well done OP. Beautiful machine and setup.

Light roast fan? Try some fun funky stuff from Proud Mary “wild” beans!
