Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin attended a Christmas dinner hosted by U.S. Vice President JD Vance and met with Vice President Vance. The move is aimed at strengthening the global network base by expanding contacts with key U.S. administration officials.
According to Shinsegae Group on the 14th, Chairman Chung attended a dinner held at Vice President Vance’s residence in Washington, D.C. on the 12th (local time). The meeting was attended by senior White House officials, including Commerce Secretary Howard Rutnick, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. Businessmen such as former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Chief Operating Officer Siam Shankar Palantir also joined.
Before the dinner with Vice President Vance, Chairman Chung visited the White House and met with high-level White House officials, including Michael Krazios, head of the White House Office for Science and Policy. Kratios is in charge of the U.S. government’s AI strategy in the second phase of Trump.
Chairman Chung discussed ways to cooperate in the U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) export program during a meeting with Kratios. Chairman Chung reportedly expressed interest in introducing cutting-edge technologies to advance distribution during the interview.
Christopher Buskerk, chief operating officer of 1789 Capital, who founded the Rockbridge Network with Vice President Vance, also attended the Christmas dinner. Buskerk is reportedly planning to visit Korea next month to meet with Rockbridge Network Korea members and officially join the board.
Rockbridge Network is a political sponsorship organization founded by Vice President Vance in 2019, focusing on policy research and establishing political and business connections. President Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is a member of the group.
Chairman Chung is the Asia general president of Rockbridge Network and is participating as a director at Rockbridge Network Korea, which was officially launched in the form of a think tank in October.
Kim Hae-young, former member of the Democratic Party of Korea, former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, former Minister of Strategy and Finance Park Jae-wan, Hanyang University President Kim Woo-seung, Park Byung-eun, CEO of 1789 Partners, and Richard Tsai, chairman of Taiwan’s Fubon Group, are participating as directors.
