Raccoon Valley Radio’s Caring Christmas Food Drives will continue this week in several locations.
The Big Red and Little Big Red Radios will head to six stops across Dallas, Greene and Guthrie counties. Residents can make non-perishable food or monetary donations that will stay in that community’s food pantry following the broadcasts for each food drive.
Raccoon Valley Radio Owners John and Jen McGee are continuing the Caring Christmas Food Drives, now in its 14th year. John talks about the decision behind why they felt it necessary to keep doing this kind of program.
“As we discussed buying the company and continuing business operations and things that we want to do and what we want to improve, one of the things that we always came back to was strengthening family. If you’ve got a family that’s struggling with food insecurities, it’s awfully hard to focus on some of the other areas in your family that you need. To us, let’s make sure that we’re working together with our communities, with our sponsors to help those in need and to our small influence that we can do to lower that food insecurity.”
Additionally, during each remote broadcast this week with Raccoon Valley Radio is also a chance for people to enter their names for the Christmas Cash Giveaways of $1,000 for each of the three stations, including KDLS in Perry, KGRA in Jefferson and KKRF in Stuart.
