What’s good, Unbreakable family? Welcome back to the channel, guys. Back, y’all. So, we are in the kitchen and we’re about to get into cooking dinner tonight. Yes. Yeah. Cooking with the Roberts family. This has actually been highly requested for us to show how to make it. You guys are keeping up with us on Snapchat. We’ve been making this multiple times a week at this point. One of Colin’s favorite meals. And it’s quick and easy. One of my new favorite meals. New favorite meals. Yeah. So, we’re going to show you guys how to make it tonight. Like we said, it’s really quick, but basically, you want to tell them? Yeah. You want to tell them what we’re making today? What is this? Chicken. Chicken. So, we’re making some baked chicken thighs. And then Juan’s going to be making some yellow rice from scratch. Daddy’s officially on the rice to me because his rice comes out perfect every time. But let me know what type of baked chicken we’re making typically. Okay. So, basically, it’s like a herbal and lemon type of baked chicken. It’s very healthy. Shout out to my mom who gave us the recipe. Of course, my mother-in-law gave us this recipe. She made it like a few times for us, but last year she made it like for New Year’s, and it was so good. Like, so good. It was delicious. So, I was like, “No, I got to make that.” So, yeah, we’ve been making it. It’s one of our new fave recipes. And it’s really, really simple to make. Pretty much all you need are some herbs, your regular seasonings, how you would season up your chicken, and then some fresh lemons. So, ready to cook? Yeah. I’m going to show you guys how to do it. Yeah. I eat lemons. You like lemons? Yeah. I like Yeah. They are. But yeah, I just can’t wait for you guys to see how delicious everything comes out and also for you guys to try at home yourself making this meal. But we’re going to get right into cooking. Smash that like button, subscribe to the channel, turn on your post notifications. Yeah, let’s get into cooking with the Roberts family. Check it up. Check it up. Guys, I’m throwing on my apron. My grandma actually made me this apron custom. Yep. And when did she make this apron for you and gift it to you? This was one of uh my wedding gifts from her. Personal made. She was like, “You wife now. You got to make sure you cook for your husband.” I was like, “Yes, grandma.” Yeah, it’s cute. It’s like denim jeans. Says my name. First, of course, we have to clean our chicken. So, like I said, we’re making chicken thighs tonight. Pretty much, you’re just going to use ice cold water and some lemon juice. And you’re just going to wash the chicken and make sure that it’s nice and clean. The lemon juice just like cleans kills bacteria. So, yeah. Usually, I’m on duty when it comes to the chicken, but this is Russ’s specialty. She got really good at making a snow melt. So, I let her do the chicken and I do the rice. Sometimes we like divide and conquer and I’ll have like, you know, Kong pl the chicken for me, prep it all, and then I’ll just like cook. But it’s okay. I don’t mind doing it for this. Decent amount. Ice cold water. Like I said, you want to use Some people argue you don’t have to clean your meat, but us personally, we like to clean our meat. There’s nothing like I cannot just take my chicken or meat out of a package and just be right. Like it looks nasty. Like you got to clean it off. You got to wash it off. But see, just all I know not everybody, but we definitely wash. Oh my gosh. My hands are ice cubes right now. Hands cold. Yes. Okay, that’s your clean chicken thighs. There you go. I got to wash my hands quick. Okay, so chicken is all clean. Now, I’m going to get all the herbs ready, and then we’re going to get into seasoning the chicken. But pretty much the herbs that we’re using are thyme. I got some organic rosemary. And then we’re going to be using some fresh peeled garlic. I feel like when you’re seasoning your chicken and stuff, it’s kind of like up to you, the amounts you want to use, you know, especially when it comes to like garlic and stuff like that. You kind of just got to eye it. Yeah. And it’s like based on Yeah. your your taste profile, how much seasoning you like. I love a lot of garlic, but Kan doesn’t like too much garlic, so he says go over sometimes. Russ is heavy-handed with the seasoning. Not all the time, but when it comes to like garlic and black pepper, yeah, those are much better. We’re going to just chop up the thyme, rosemary, and garlic. And then for this amount of chicken, I like to use about like three lemons. But like I said, once again, it’s up to you. If you don’t want too much of a citrusy taste, you can use less. If you want more of a citrusy taste, you can use even more than three lemons. I actually like when you use a lot of lemon. Last time we used more lemon just to see how you liked it and you liked it. So yeah, when life gives you lemons, you make the lemon chicken. Lemon chicken. Savey’s about to help us chop up some of the garlic. Him and Shine like to help us in the kitchen as well. We put them on garlic duty, baby. Good job. Awesome. Make them small pieces. Okay. Chop them up. Chop them up. I’ll give you like two or three to cut up for us. You got it. Use two hands. Yep. There you go. All right, so we’re about to get into seasoning our chicken thighs. We prepped all of the herbs and lemons and all that. Now, the main thing that you want to season with is some adobo, allpurpose seasoning. I’m sure everyone knows what adobo is. And then I like to use a few others like onion powder, garlic powder. Um, I feel like everyone’s flavor profile is different, so you could pretty much just like season your chicken how you typically would. I like to add in a few others, but just season it how you would. I feel like the main thing that’s going to really bring the taste in is the herbs, the garlic, and the lemon. Anyhow, this is like the main thing, the flavor. Yeah, exactly. Um, and yeah, I just realized that we ran out of gloves. I like to season up the chicken with gloves. Kan cooked last night and he didn’t tell me that we ran out. Yeah, I didn’t even think about it. I would have grabbed it. I know you definitely don’t want to get like seasoning underneath your nails. Yeah, it’s the nails for me. But I have to do what I got to do. Unless you want to get I really don’t want to. He hates touching me, y’all. I’ll I’ll do it. I’ll do it. You have to. You’ll do it. But I’ll do it. He’s more inked out by the meat. Babe, but I make chicken all the time. Yeah, but you use the gloves. Not when I’m cutting them. When you mixing it up, you don’t use When I’m cutting the chicken, I don’t use gloves. Oh, okay. When I mix it, but it’s not that big of a deal. You just wash your hands. Yeah. Let’s season up the chicken. Wow. Check Russ out. She just ripped her hand in there and got to work. So nails going to get dirty. Got to get to work. But you chose to do that. You chose to get them dirty. Looking for my family. You got to do what I got to do. Oh, I see where you going with this. I’m going to have to pay for them to get freshly done again. Oh, that too. Yeah, that too. No, I was just like whatever. It’s not that serious. I don’t know. I just don’t like cooking with my nails as well cuz they say you’re not supposed to technically cook like with your nails with long nails. Okay, so the chicken is nice and seasoned. And now we’re about to add the herbs. So, you’re just going to add everything you chopped up. This is the part that Smells good, right? Smells so good. It’s like a nice healthy meal to make. Mhm. And it’s quick and easy. And add the lemon. Squeeze all the lemon juice. Put some muscle into it. There you go. All over the chicken. Y’all see those guns? Hold on. Y’all see them guns? My muscles are poking out. Uh-huh. I’m lowkey strong. You’re looking swole right now. Whoa. Hold on. Stop. All those workouts I had going. Mhm. Mommy. Lemon. Yeah, sie. Lemon. Put lemon on the chicken. You want to help mommy? Yeah. Come look. Use your muscle. Sie. There you go. There you go. Good job. Doesn’t it smell so good? Yeah. Mhm. Sie loves this chicken. We tearing it up. Sean on the other hand, not so much. Still trying to get him. He’ll get used to it eventually. I think it’s the lemon. No, he’s his father’s child. He wants brown stew chicken every day. Thank you, Savior. The baby. Yeah, Sean is a lot like me. So, like once he likes something, he just wants his chicken the same exact way all the time. He only wants brown stew chicken. So, get him to try different flavored chickens and different type of chicken meals is hard. Yeah. Very tough. I mean, I was trying to give him like the inside of the uh thigh just so it’s like chicken. He’s like, “Uh, mommy, I don’t know about it.” Yeah. I don’t think he likes the lemon flavor though because he doesn’t like when you get the lemon chicken and the pasta and stuff. He don’t like um like what is it? Chicken cranches or anything like that. That’s a lemon chicken, right? Yeah. He doesn’t really like lemon flavored foods. And I was like that, too. I don’t like, you know, just the thought of mixing a fruit with my food, like mango flavored stuff. It took me a while before I started eating those type of foods that have fruit incorporated in them like citrusy stuff. But citrus with like meats are so good. It is. It is. S loves lemon for what you grow on me. S loves lemon. Sy’s a foodie. Yeah. Look at that. Look how good I want to eat something. You smelling the seasoning on the meat? Got him hungry. You hungry now? Yeah. Oh, and now you want something. Okay, we got you. Okay. It’s okay. Sie, smelling the chicken got me hungry, too. He’s staring at it. I don’t want chicken. You don’t want chicken? I think you do. No, you going to want it once it’s out the oven. Well, the chicken got you hungry now. You wasn’t hungry before mommy started, you know, seasoning up the chicken. I don’t want the chicken. So, what you want? Strawberries. He’s so hungry. He wants strawberries. You want strawberries? Wow. Okay, you got to All right. So, we’re going to put a little bit of olive oil at the bottom of these tin pans. And then we’re going to throw our chicken inside and pop it in the oven. Okay. And then I’m going to get into making a rice because it’s pretty much been cooking with Russa up until now. But this is realistic kind of like how we actually do the dinner. Like I’ll do like, you know, maybe the chicken or I won’t do the rice. Usually I do the chicken and you do the rice. Yeah. But like I’m saying like we’ll help in the kitchen. So like we work together. We work together in the kitchen. It’s easier cuz then one could be like tending to the kids while the other person. Whatever. But tonight it’s opposite. Mom be putting in that work in the kitchen tonight. You’re just going to want to like coat it. And then you’re just going to put the chicken in here. Skin side up. Skin is going to make it nice and moist in the middle. M so chicken don’t get dry. Make sure the seasoning stay on the chicken. Mhm. I’m going to probably add a little bit more. See all that garlic? That’s my piece right there. All that garlic. Behind that. The whole thing with the garlic. I love it. M. Y’all see that? Yeah. I already can tell it’s about to come out fire. Time to pop these in the oven. You’re going to bake at 350. It’ll most likely take about like an hour, but also I feel like that’s also as you please. You know, some people like their chicken baked differently. So, it’s kind of just like based on how we like our chicken nice and crispy and well cooked. This baked chicken does take a while to cook. It does. But it’s something, like I said, something easy you could just like, you know, the prep, pop it in the oven, walk away. Don’t do other stuff while it’s cooking. Yeah. We about to set the timer up. I’m going to do an hour for now. Let that bake. So, right now, I’m not just saying wash dishes. You got to clean as you go. As you cook, you clean. You know what I’m saying? You don’t want to have a dirty kitchen while you’re cooking behind the camera right now because I told him like, “Hey, record me washing dishes.” So, it looks like I’m doing like I am doing something. I’m cleaning. All right, man. Oh, well, you’re about to do the rice, too. I got to clean everything anyway because I got to wash the rice. I got to wash all the starch with the rice. So, just trying to get those. But this is realistic still because this is actually how we do it. Like if you’re cooking, I clean the dishes. If I’m cooking, you clean the dishes. You know, teamwork makes the dream work. Don’t discredit me. I’m not. We just want to let y’all know this. Don’t lie. I’m not doing nothing. I’m done. All right, let’s get this rice cooking. See if he’s going to do the honest. Pour the rice in the pot. There we go. That’s enough. That’s enough. Heavy hand like your mama. Cooking for we got pour a little bit more. That’s it. A little bit. All right. Good job, S. Thank you. High five. Hey, wait. Wait. High five. You want to clean the rice for daddy? Yeah. Let’s clean the rice. All right. So, we’re going to wash the rice. You do is use some cold water. Are your hands clean, Sie? Yeah. Yeah. I washed them after he cut the throat. Again, all you do is kind of squeeze the rice. Squeeze the rice to get all the starch off. You’re going to see the water turns white and cloudy. That’s the starch coming off the rice. How many times do you do that? I do that about like four times. Oh, don’t be playing. Yeah. Until the water runs clear pretty much. I got to wash my hands. Hold on. All right. So, I’m about to get into cooking this rice. Rice is very simple. Well, it’s not simple. You got to know the amount of water that you add to the rice. And you also got to let it boil to a certain point before you cover it and turn down the fire. Low key, rice is like kind of hard to learn. It’s kind of hard. That’s the hardest part with rice. But as for like seasoning, the yellow rice, very simple. You just use some butter, chicken boyong, and um some garlic. Chicken what? He He said chicken boyong. I know I didn’t say that right. Chicken banan boy. Whatever. Yeah, y chicken flavor. First, I’m going to add my butter. Me and Russa like our rice very buttery. Yes, I love butter in the rice. Makes it nice and fluffy. That’s about the amount of uh water K used. By the way, you can see I like to use less than more, if that makes sense. So, I will start off with this amount of water. If I need to add more water, then I will add more. It’s easier. You can’t take out the water, though. You can’t take out the water, but you add too much water. So, that’s the trick with you’re making rice. Try not to add too much water cuz you don’t want your rice all sticky and mushy. Yeah, mushy. I think we’re good on butter. Mhm. Right, babe? That’s good. I’m trying to get all this spoon. Boom. Some garlic going on. Usually do like two spoonfuls. Shoot. You can add three in there for me. You already got mad garlic on the chain with the garlic. But yeah, it depends on the amount of rice that you’re making. Y the rice is all done. This is what it’s looking like. Literally perfection. Also decided to throw on some green beans for tonight’s vegetable. Chicken ready. The big reveal. Just look how delicious. So good. I can’t wait to eat. This is what we’re talking about when we said we like our chicken crispy. Just like that. Just like that. We got to show them the tendonism, too. Tenderism. Chicken going to fall off the bone. Crispy but tender. M. So good. The chicken looks delicious. Taste test. Huh. My husband gets to do the honors. M. Really yummy. So good. Don’t be dramatic. Isn’t that good? You want to lie to me, right? You want to lie to me. Oh my god. That chicken like it fell off the bone though. M. Let’s go. I need a plate. Now, now there you have it. We have our baked herbal lemon chicken, some delicious yellow rice, and also some green beans. The cure is going crazy tonight. Y’all hear him being a caterpillar? He’s having tummy time right now. So, we’re going to roll. He’s playing with Satie over there. Yeah, they’re playing together. This is tonight’s dinner. This was highly requested. So, now you guys know how to make it. Make sure you guys send us pictures or tag us if you guys decide to try and make it. Try it out. Try it out. It’s delicious.
