Already one of my favorites ever about 2 years heavily into wine. Easily my second favorite American wine behind Pride Reserve Claret.
These notes are after a couple hours to open, but it was great throughout. Early on it was almost all leather, olives, and green peppers but it developed so well.
Nose: leather, baking spice, spearmint(?!?), twigs, slight blueberry, cedar bonfire and lavender at the very end.
Palate: dried cherries, stewed beef, leather, solid acidity, present and pleasurable tannins, olive tapenade.
Finish: strawberries and some boozy heat that’s not my favorite thing but doesn’t really totally kill my enthusiasm for this masterpiece.
Long after what I’d officially call the “finish” I finally get the sensation of black pepper on my tongue. Yay, rotundone!
I will be trying more from Cayuse, and not only the Syrah. I’m very impressed. Cheers!

Have you tried any wines from horsepower? Have a couple saved up but I don’t know if I should give cayuse a try first or go straight to horsepower
I’ve got a ton of Cayuse + HP/NG back to 2010 I’m wanting to part with if anyone is looking.
Cayuse is spellbinding! Try the Cailloux next – the fruit is from the original vineyard and the touch of Viognier makes for an enchanting bouquet of aromas. HP is super cool too, and Bionic Frog is their flagship Syrah.
