First time caramelizing onions! This is where I chickened out and ended it. Was it too early? Should I have pushed for more? (although I don’t know what I am expecting)

I think you could just add more water/stock

there’s a use for different levels of caramelization. no right answer on how “far” you need to take them, just dependent on the dish you’re making and your tastes and preferences! that being said, did you add flour to these? I’m not used to them being such a thick, movable pile like this. they’re typically much more wet so I’m curious!

Less heat, a little liquid and more patience my dude <3 You got this

Add some water at the beginning at max heat, so they cook faster. Also, add little bit of water when necessary. Happy onion caramelization!!!!

Yes, far too early. Why don’t you send them my way so I can properly dispose of them for you. 😏

Move it less and let it go longer. If u add a tiny bit of balsamic or soy sauce u tend to get better caramelization. I have most success when I don’t use oil and sweat out the onions w salt first, then I add oil.

Lower your heat. It should be much darker than that.
