Athena’s brings Mediterranean flavors to Monroe

MONROE, La. (KNOE) -Athena’s is serving up a taste of Greece in Monroe, blending tradition, bold flavors and family-style dining into every plate.

The restaurant offers classic gyros and seasoned meats alongside creamy hummus and warm pita, with a menu that highlights Greek staples made with time-honored recipes.

“We’re more of a, instead of just Greek and Lebanese, we’re a Mediterranean restaurant where you’re going to get the Euro. You’re going to get hummus, but you’re going to get our Grecian dip, our bubba ganoush, shrimp scampi,” said Issam Jaber.

The family-owned establishment operates as the kind of place where meals are meant to linger, where friends gather, conversations flow and food brings people together.

“We just put our heart and soul into the whole thing alot of the family of the family actually work with me, me older brother ali and my little brother,” Jaber said.

Jaber said the restaurant is proud to share a little piece of Greek culture with Monroe, one plate at a time.

“Obviously there’s nothing else like it around here. You’re not going to find any food like that. And we just wanted to try something different. And thankfully it’s really worked out,” he said. “A lot of people love it. And we just, we feel like our food stands out. Then most places you’re just going to get burgers or fries.”
