Hi all!

This was my very first loaf (now I have 2 more bulk fermenting as I create this post. I’m hooked haha)

How did I do? What do you think I can improve on. Any tips/tricks?

This one was made using:

100g starter

500g KA bread flour

350g water

12g salt

I really want to make a whole wheat one (preferably 100% whole wheat) so any tips for that is appreciated as well!

TIA!

I have to agree and say that crumb is flawless! I find it difficult to believe that that could be anyone’s first loaf. Very, very impressed.

That’s a wonderful loaf! And the fact that was your first one is incredible! Excellent work

That is fantastic! Let’s just say I called all my first loaves betty’s bread bricks (starter is named Betty)😂

Can I have more details of your recipe??

  9. This is the bread version of scammers sending thirst trap photos “to the wrong phone number” right? Congrats OP. Great loaf. 100% whole wheat is unusual as it can be hard to balance structure, taste, shaping. If I were you, and I clearly don’t babe as well as you do so ignore me, I’d sneak up on a percentage that you like. Start with 20-30% ww and go on from there. Bonus you get to eat all of your test loaves!

  10. Your loaf makes me want to quit baking. I’ve been doing this infuriating hobby for about a year now and my loaves look half as good as yours.

Am I the only one who thinks these are two different loaves?

Not being a hater, more power to ya and anyone who gets great bakes right away.. just they really don’t look the same to my, admittedly over-the-hill, eyes.

Edit: Not to be a conspiracy theorist but the cutting board looks different too.. perhaps it’s just flipped over though.
