It’s been a difficult year for many families.
Black Friday Shopping supposedly broke records. And while that may be true, the success of Black Friday is mostly due to shoppers dishing out more dough for fewer goods. Of course, the same applies to groceries.
Freak, owner of Top Fuel Saloon in Braidwood, has stepped up to the plate to ease the financial and emotional burden for anyone who needs help. No one will go hungry if Freak can help it, as he has proven by hosting a food pantry every Friday.
While the majority of us have Christmas Day off, Santa Freak and his “elves” will be working even more hours than usual.
Top Fuel Saloon will be open at 11 a.m. sharp, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, spreading cheer of one variety or another.
On Christmas Day, Freak will once again be hosting a free Christmas buffet starting at 2 p.m.
Got an extra ham,
or maybe a pie?
In the spirit of the holidays, Freak is inviting his friends and neighbors to contribute to the feast. If you happened to catch a great deal for Thanksgiving and have some excess grub in your freezer, Freak would most definitely appreciate your help.
“Right now, we are good on stuffing, but need hams and sides,” Freak said.
Thanksgiving a success
Top Fuel Saloon’s free Thanksgiving buffet was a vast success, with Freak and his staff serving up 24 turkeys and 20 hams, along with a variety of side dishes and desserts.
“And the thing was, we had leftovers, which means everybody got something to eat,” Freak said. “We didn’t turn anybody away.”
No one went hungry, and Freak wants to make sure no one will be turned away on Christmas.
And there’s no reason those who donate can’t also partake in the buffet.
“If you don’t have a family or your family doesn’t like you we’ll be open 11 a.m. sharp on Christmas day,” Freak said.
Donate a toy
Top Fuel Saloon is also participating in the Will-Grundy Toys for Tots campaign. Freak is making a big effort to make sure all local children wake up to a toy or two on Christmas Day. Top Fuel Saloon has a drop off box for new toys. Donations may be dropped off after 11 a.m.
“No child should be without a toy at Christmas,” Freak said. “And all toys collected go to kids in Will and Grundy counties.
