Those strolling down Newbury Street in Boston can now stop for authentic Italian sweets because a famous chocolate brand has joined the popular strip’s lineup of businesses.

Venchi, the renowned Italian chocolate and gelato maker, opened its first Massachusetts “Chocogelateria” at 123 Newbury St., just beneath Diptyque Newbury, this month.

In addition to being the first in the Bay State, Venchi Boston is also the company’s 20th storefront in the United States.

“We are very excited to continue to expand Venchi’s US presence with retail locations now in five states along the east coast,” Venchi COO Mark Ellis said in a press release. “We know our fans who have tasted Venchi’s premium-quality Italian chocolate and authentic gelato will be happy to have us close by in Boston.”

Founded in 1878, Venchi has become one of the recognizable chocolate brands in the world. With more than 350 recipes, Venchi’s chocolates are all made with certified cocoa and premium, high-quality ingredients such as Piedmont hazelnut, green pistachio from Bronte and Sicilian almonds.

Venchi’s chocolates contain no coloring agents, preservatives or palm oils in addition to noble fats such as olive oil and cocoa butter. The sweet treats are gluten-free, and some are vegan friendly as well.

Venchi’s notable chocolates include the Chocoviar, Gianduiotti and Cremini, which are all on display in the Boston boutique. Customers can choose from more than 50 varieties to make their own assortment or give them to someone else.

The Chocogelateria also houses a gelato bar with 20 flavors of handmade gelato available every day. The gelato can also be blended into Venchi’s signature drink: the Gelatoshake.

Other products available at the Boston Chocogelateria include hot chocolate and crepes. Venchi also sells its products online.

Venchi Boston is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
