Would I be okay to thaw out this mackerel and eat it as is?

Marinate it soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi.

    Grill it over charcoal.

Well, the chef fish at a huge wholesaler told me: raw macarel is fine, but it must me very very fresh and always check on parasite’s. (Check for Worms with white colour, can always be spottend with a normal eye) Don’t eat old or frozen macarel ever raw.
Thats my 5 cents for you.

Reddit isn’t mind-readers, my friend. Nor can we take temperatures through our screens. And you didn’t even include the label with best-by dates.

Eat it if you’re feeling adventurous. Don’t eat if if you’re feeling cautious. It’s your mouth, you get to choose what goes in there.

This looks like frozen mackerel neta sold to sushi shops for nigiri use.
If that’s the case, it’s safe to eat after defrosting.

That’s already cured with salt and vinegar isn’t it? Should be ok.

That’s not raw mackerel, it’s shimesaba (meaning aged with vinegar, sometimes dashi as well). Check to make sure it’s not gone bad obviously, but you shouldn’t see parasites.
