I was already looking forward to the holidays and trying out my gift to myself; but unfortunately, I got excited too soon. That's how it turned out for me. Seems like the „fragile“ warning on the packaging was not enough for the delivery companies…

This is why it’s better to buy a BGE from a local retailer with free delivery.
That said, at least you can return it. Better than accidentally tipping it over and breaking it on your patio!
“Fragile”? Must be Italian.
Unfortunately this does happen from time to time. Hopefully your local dealer has another in stock to quickly replace and you’ll be up and running, or smoking, before you know it.
This is why I paid a little extra for Ace Hardware to deliver AND install. Don’t tell me it happened on my watch!
You live in orlando?
Fragile, but not that fragile. Ok so it actually turns out it was indeed fragile.
Was it shipped by a dealer? I didn’t think the dealers were allowed to ship. it’s my understanding that Big Green Egg doesn’t want the dealers to ship because they want to be certain that the customer ends up in a position to get local service from a dealer in their authorized territory.
This is the biggest nightmare for a new egghead! Hope you can get a replacement soon! Happy holidays!
“I have family coming and need a new unit delivered to my house like yesterday or my holiday dinner(s) are ruined.”
Unfortunately Eggs are extra fragile. I was highly active on the competition BBQ circuit for about 10 years and travels with 1-2 large BGEs frequently and even with the best of care they are very fragile and it was not uncommon to crack fire box and fire rings frequently. I only broke a lower outer shell once and never broke a top section. Back in the day there was a guy who sold something called an Egg Crate and it helped but even then it wasn’t invincible. Yes they’re fragile but BGE has a really strong warranty and good customer service through Ace and in my experience getting replacement parts is super easy. The most I ever had to do was take a pic and email to my local Ace and they handled the rest. I’ve had countless sets of new hinge/band assemblies, fire box, fire rings, and other parts and have never paid out of pocket for any of them.
The same thing happened to me, and they were great about replacing a very quickly
