It reminds me of my days in the kitchens. Standing in a circle of hungry help stabbing at a dead plate like cavemen. Or hunched over a plate of something quickly tossed together at the end of the line.
I cooked the shit out of this one, though. I bumped the heat up more than I thought on this shit electric eye, and then got distracted while loading the dishwasher.
Smoked it for 2 hours just to scorch it in 2 minutes. Still tasty though.
Anyone else enjoy standing over a plate at home like that? Or still do it if you're no longer in restaurants?

My bother does this. He will cook something, turn around, and eat it standing at his kitchen bar.
looks good
Every once in while I catch myself eating over the trash can at home… well mostly someone else catches me lol
Last night I ate pizza over the sink like a rat.
I love eating over the kitchen sink. Especially warmed up leftover spaghetti, glancing out the window contemplating my life and the universe.
Respect.
I like to do roast chicken and veggies in my cast iron pot. I’ll carve the chicken and plate it up all nice, but the real part I like is when I get to just pick at the carcass and get all the juicy/tender bits. My chihuahua and I have a great time.
I only eat at the table when i have company over, so essentially never.
I live alone and yes and I love it
My partner gets mad I do this
I’ll just do a one person hot pot standing at the stove if I’m feeling frisky.
Savage
Ive been eating most of my meals like this especially after having kkds
Beautiful steak chef
The things we think everyone does just because we do it. I have always been late shift and have always ate at the sink usually by the light of the stove or an open microwave so the I don’t wake up the kids.
Whenever I’m cooking for myself it’s whatever is simplest and easiest. Sometimes that’s shit Kraft Mac N Cheese with some caramelized onions, kielbasa and Sriracha. I try not to eat too much shit but when you’re destroyed it’s hard not to. I’m stuck on those frozen French bread pizzas. Quick nuke and finish in the toaster oven. It’s terrible but gets me through it. Steak? Scallops, or anything else hell no. Some days I can manage frozen cooked shrimp tossed with pasta, olive oil, and garlic.
I stand to eat a lot. When I was back home over Thanksgiving my dad would get on to me about it. I’m like whatever dude. I’m adult lol
I used to. Then in my new place I have a kitchen island. So I eat at a nice spot but I can 180, take two steps and clean it right away. Took almost 15 years to get to this. A little better than eating in dry storage on a case of milk
I live on my own and I’ve lost count of number of times I’ve done that. Some of my most memorable meals were eaten by the stove, standing.
My wife hates when I stand and eat. Now I don’t know if I want her to shut up or have a bit of whine with my steak.
Standing over the sink gnawing on a food carcass beats the hell out of spreading dirty dishes around.
My family home growing up had a large island that was also a butcher block. I’ve eaten more meals fresh off the stove standing around talking to my dad and sisters for hours. Really good memories for me. My wife came from a forced sit down dinner household and still hasn’t come around to standing in the kitchen eating fresh hot food. She started working as a hostess/waitress at 16 and has been in the business ever since. She’d grown to like dead food more than fresh lol She’s WFH now and has graciously taken it uppon herself to cook us dinner just about every night. She used to always cook dinner way too early and just plate up cold dead food when I get home. In the 8th year of marriage she finally decided I was allowed a hot dinner 🤣 She’s my best friend and oh so quirky.
Edit: Thanks for my first award!
I do this a lot, then clean in between a few bits…to slow myself down eating too fast
That steak looks so good rn
Don’t break the glass top.
I do the same thing for a lot of my dinners, put on a good audio book and enjoy the meal
I like to deliberately eat like a bum and sit on a curb in a busy street. Makes me feel human to eat on the ground as the world passes by.
I haven’t worked in a restaurant in over 5 years, and I still eat 90% of my meals standing. My wife hates it but has given up trying to fix me (in this area at least 😹)
it’s my house so my rules. I’ll make food at my cutting board, eat it right there, scrub and move on.
I just ate over my stove and I’ve never worked in the kitchen industry. Maybe it’s a guy thing?
I ate my dinner tacos 🌮 tonight in the kitchen standing up!
I didn’t realize there was any other way to eat a meal.
I’ve eaten some of the most beautiful and expensive meals you’ve ever seen, frantically, over a garbage can.
/dudesbeingdudes or whatever it’s called. Is this the internet? 🛜
Dude, a lifetime in the kitchen does that to you.

You need one of these. (Not really, they’re awful.)
I normally just eat my food as fast as I can over the dishwars trash can like an animal.
Good for you bro:)
This is a picture of my kitchen
This
Same. I regularly eat out of the pan so I don’t create an extra dish to wash.
I have kids in college that keep weird hours and just caught my daughter eating ramen with an egg out of the pan she cooked it in. I was weirdly proud of her.
Relatable.
F yes!
Sometimes I put the pot on a trivet on my counter, prop my phone up against my mortar and pestle, and have dinner and a show. I would eat over the stove, but there’s nowhere to put my phone and there isn’t a window to look through.
Occasionally, after serving myself and eating my meal, I stand at the stove and eat more straight out of the pan like a raccoon.
Ate a costco chicken over my trash. Just tossed bones into it as I cleaned it
I love having a stainless steel kitchen island. I like to set up a taco station and eat each taco over the next tortillas for efficiency.
