EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A local nonprofit has given free meals to community members in need during the holiday season. Hope Gospel Mission in Eau Claire hosted its annual Christmas Community Dinner on Saturday.

The nonprofit expects to serve 650 guests. Many families use the drive-through option.

Organizers said their mission is to help anyone in need of a leg up. Lee McMenamin, president of the board of directors, said there’s no better way to thank the community that has supported their mission, than with a warm meal.

“We just like to acknowledge the community that’s welcomed Hope Gospel’s rescue mission in incredible ways. And at the same time, they can come in and they can sit, shoulder to shoulder, and meet some of our neighbors and our friends that are going through homelessness,” McMenamin said.

McMenamin also said Hope Gospel Mission is in need of volunteers year-round.
