Intestine can be really good but it needs to be seasoned with quite strong flavors/fragrances. This is just boiled with hot sauce? That cant be good, and this is coming from someone that loves bbq intestine in korea/japan.

Oh buddy this is tough. Tough in texture and tough to look at. Chitlins is something you have to get right or no one is eating that. I live in a very poor city and people love Chitlins but this just looks boiled and flavor is an after thought.

My mom would take me to the market every month (Mexico) and I would get these, I loved the chewy/hard pops it would make. The butcher would throw them on the grill, then throw them in a Tupperware full of hot sauce, lemon juice, then put them in a bag for me to eat on my way home. I recommend putting them on the grill for a bit then adding some spice and lemon juice. 👍

Wait is this just tripas but not deep fried in a big pot? I grew up eating tacos de tripas when my dad would bring home a pack from a food truck or he’d make some on a little welded griddle outside with a fire underneath, love when the gritty(?) stuff on the inside is still there and it’s super good. This looks really boiled and gummy, ya gotta cut em into little tubes and fry it so it’s all crispy and easy to chew.

My MIL just tried to make them last week. She has dementia and lives in a small basement apartment with no ventilation. The smell was horrible. I had never smelled chitterlings before and told my husband,who said she used to make them all the time when they were kids, that the smell wasn’t that bad. That was before she added a bunch of vinegar. The smell was everywhere. I had to apologize to my husband for doubting him when he said they stunk. He kept telling his mom “we aren’t slaves anymore! We don’t have to eat like this!”😂😂😭
