Olive Garden will start offering lighter portions — and cheaper meals — in the new year after feedback that customers are seeking affordability.
The restaurant chain will offer a menu with smaller portions of the same dishes after testing the change this year, Fox News reports.
“Olive Garden has seen a double-digit increase in affordability perceptions from guests who order from the lighter portions menu and an increase in frequency among these guests,” said CEO Rick Cardenas on the Darden Restaurants’ quarterly earnings call Thursday.
The more affordable portions will not replace other options on the menu, the company said. Customers can find seven light entrees on a new section on the menu. Light portions will cost $12.99 or $13.99
Dishes on the new menu include Eggplant Parmigiana,Chicken Parmigiana, Lasagna Classico, Five Cheese Ziti al Forno, Cheese Ravioli, Spaghetti & Meatballs and Fettuccine Alfredo.
