No idea what the hells in this, but I can’t imagine what makes a hot sauce this expensive.

Blair’s Halloween 2011 hot sauce is whispered about like a legend among collectors who swear it was a once-in-a-lifetime batch. According to the story, it was made on a foggy October night using a pepper strain that never grew the same way again. People claim the heat was perfectly balanced with a smoky sweetness that Blair himself never managed to recreate. Today, the bottle is said to be nearly impossible to find and priceless if unopened.
Just kidding, I made all this up.

I have 2, which unfortunately both are leaking now. The Blair’s Halloween Reserves are released (almost) every year in limited numbers. Most people collect them and never open them. IIRC the 2011 was $299 when released.

Looks like a personal collectible that the shop owner likes but they put a price tag on it anyway on the off chance someone is actually willing to pay 2.5 grand.

It’s gimmicky AF. Custom artisan bottles, Italian resins, corked and waxed, gold skull, etc.. cool yes but not worth it. Just give me a recycled bottle that was found and rinsed or hell id take my sauce in a sandwich bag so long as it tastes amazing.

never understood the hobby of spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on something that is never gonna be used or taken out of the package

That’s just Belle Delphine’s bath water.

It’s not so much a hot sauce as it is a collectible, much like a lot of Blairs top end range. They only make a certain amount of bottles. There are collectors out there trying to fill out their collection.

    This just marketing ridiculousness

  11. zabadaz-huh

My takeaway is hot sauce lasts forever.

If the dumb collectible shit that whales buy subsidizes normal shit they make for the masses and can keep the small business afloat and independent, I’m for it.

So many people on this sub have zero idea what they’re talking about 🤦

My take is that it’s for show and if some numbskull thinks offering a big discount will make them the ultimate shopper, then it’s worth it. Blair’s is a fine line of sauces. I moved from Death to After Death and will go up when it’s done. Sauce makers have special runs, this apparently being one. Cool looking bottle.

Those people do ridiculous shit like make pure capsicum extract. I can’t think of any reason to put this on something you would eat.

This is a conversation piece for rich people, nothing more.

  16. Butthole_Ticklah

Better throw some extra soft shit tickets in the freezer first!

I’ve met Blair… nice enough guy. These reserves are done in custom blown glass bottles, and are very very limited releases. They aren’t crazy expensive to buy on release, but they definitely go up in value.

The sauce isn’t worth it (his classic death sauce is great though), especially since opening the bottle will tank its value.

I had about five bottles that I sold for probably 8x what I got them for, but only because I got them at release.

Only sold them because I needed to pay rent and was suuuuper poor at that point.

Things are worth what people are willing to pay for them.

They’ve been around since 1989 and have a cult following. They make this stuff because there is a demand from their customers. Many collectors and a lot of their high end stuff has actually gained value over the years. I’d never buy this personally but I can see why they make it.

Sheeeeeeeit this shit better have those peppers Megan bought to win that salsa contest

  21. thetedman

Fuck right off with your 2500 dollar hot sauce. 8.99 for a big bottle of tapatio. 20 bucks if I want to get crazy with some unknown shit.

  22. Zigglyjiggly

Ok so do I get some head with it or what?

  23. HippyDave

Former hot sauce shop owner here – really hope those totals are in pesos. Sauces don’t age well, especially when not refrigerated. The sauces in question weren’t ones we’d stock in the first place due to quality issues; these were novelty sauces, sold at novelty stores, not ones genuinely made available for culinary uses.

Edit: even in pesos that doesn’t make sense.

  24. Ok_Blueberry_1068

Probably that cost for the bottle and not the sauce. Looks hand made so it’s probably more valuable, but still a crazy price.

  25. DangerousGangBanger

The top of it must be full of cocaine

Blair’s makes very good sauce and has almost a cult following. I’ve had many of their sauces (I have a collection of skull key rings to prove it). His Death Sauce series is well known.

They make special collection sauces on occasion. They fall in the “you have to sign a waiver to buy them” category. I’ve never bought any but they do sell out. Never saw any at that price. It’s a 2011 Reserve. Owner must think it’s collectible so marked it up extremely high. Not even sure if a 14 year old bottle is even still good.

You can check out their website here [deathsauce.com](https://deathsauce.com)

Why sell 1000 $2.50 hot sauce when 1 $2,500 hot sauce does same

  28. RememberTooSmile

Blairs product with outrageous pricing is as common as fish in the ocean

  29. UpperSupport9

Just a very small edition and high demand.

  30. G0atnapp3r

it’s not meant to be sold, just held. controversy and discourse drive sales of the other products. draws people in.

  31. Strange-Title-6337

At this point why dont you just pepper spray your food?

  32. Chicken-picante

I have a couple of old 2am and 3am reserves in my collection. Both are signed.
