Almost every restaurant I’ve been to recently has something on these terms, sometimes not calling ICE by name, sometimes less polite than that towards ICE.

Wouldn’t that sign invite ice in? Ice doesn’t really follow any rules, so I’m guessing that if they saw that sign, it would actually motivate them to target that place especially considering how many ice agents don’t really care about the law /are high on power

I was replying to a comment that got deleted saying deportations are the **only** way to increase American wages:
Low wages in the U.S. aren’t caused by immigrants… they’re the result of policy choices that protect employers while weakening workers. American companies will outsource labor instead of paying American wages. Republican administrations talk tough on immigration, but enforcement is aimed at workers through deportations, not at the companies that underpay and exploit labor. At the same time, they oppose unions, minimum-wage increases, and strong labor enforcement, while supporting systems that keep workers dependent and afraid. This is the kind of combination that keeps wages low and profits high. If the goal were truly higher American wages, the focus would be on holding employers accountable, not punishing the most vulnerable people in the workforce.

I wonder if they would just bust in anyway. Doesn’t seem like they give a flying fuck. Hopefully they actually face consequences for once if they do.

Those kvetching about (American) cooks self-sabotaging their livelihoods by supporting cheap migrant labor are missing the larger issue. This sign is on the front door because ICE storming into a restaurant also threatens the rights and safety of their guests. Who the hell wants to go out to eat while being unnerved enough to carry their immigration papers because they might get caught up in a raid? We are all at risk with these fascist roundups. Resist them!
