Mom was gifted a new crock pot. It’s very nice, but it has this hole in the lid under the handle. Concerned about mold after washing. How do you dry this out?

You gotta unscrew that screw and it pops off.

I do a crazy thing which is that I bring it out into the sun so that it evaporates. Over the summer I was legit bringing it outside and lying it upside down next to me while I was tanning

Yeah it usually just evaporates out, but the knob unscrews easily so you can dry it if it becomes a problem. I have never had a mold problem in the 4 decades I have been cooking with crockpots.

Just check it. I put my lid in the pot upside down.

Just unscrew it a tiny bit and leave it resting vertically on the drainer.

The hole is so trapped water can drain out

Did you put the lid in the dishwasher?
If so, and that seal in not tight enough, the dishwasher water pressure probably forced water in.
You could try unscrewing it and drying it out, then re-assembling it, making sure it’s tight.
But, from your image, it looks like it has one of those ridiculous security screws attaching everything. If this is the case, put the lid on the crockpot and put the crockpot on warm for 15 mins. It should evaporate the water. Then just hand wash it in future.

Mine has a rubber gasket where the hole is, sometimes water or steam still gets in there, I just loosen the screw a little to let it drain and dry out and then tighten it back up.

If only the handle were removable but alas, the technology just isn’t there yet.
