Finding a granola you love — the kind you want to pour into a bowl of milk or yogurt, sprinkle on anything that needs crunch, or just eat straight from the bag — may take trying a bunch and leaving some half-finished bags behind. If you’re looking for a healthy option, Greek Goddess Gourmet is worth a try. It’s a new Boston-based, small-batch brand that launched last year and keeps things simple. The ingredient list is short and straightforward: whole-grain oats, olive oil, whole nuts, maple syrup, and honey — no seed oils, no fillers — and less sugar than many others on the shelf.
“Clean, simple, and pure,” is how founder Deme Navab describes it. Navab was born in Iran, grew up in Greece, and draws inspiration from Mediterranean home cooking. “I learned to cook alongside my mom,” she says, before going on to study at Le Cordon Bleu in London.
After years of living in New York, working as a financial journalist, and later moving to Boston, Navab kept coming back to the idea of starting a granola business. When she finally did, she launched with three flavors. Harvest combines golden rolled oats sweetened with brown sugar and maple syrup, plus generous pieces of pecans and almonds for crunch. Maple Oat leans into maple syrup for sweetness, with toasty coconut adding flavor and texture. A standout is Baklava Bliss, dotted with pistachios and walnuts and warmly spiced with cinnamon and clove — a nod to the beloved Greek dessert. Navab says she has another Mediterranean-inspired flavor from her childhood already in the works.

And there’s a deeper reason behind the brand, too. “It’s a love letter to my mom and my Greek heritage,” she says (about $8 to $9 for a 10-ounce bag). Available at Frank Anthony’s Seaport Market, 9 Fan Pier Blvd., Boston, 857-991-1278; Barry’s Village Deli, 6 Windsor Road, Waban, 617-527-0773; Concord Market, 77 Lowell Road, Concord, 978-369-7500.
