A decade ago they had a pretty good claim to being the best falafel in the city. Then they got in bed with VC folks and tried to expand too fast and dumbed down the menu and slashed quality. It’s a shame.

Taim fell off when they tweaked the menu essentially raising prices with less food. Used to visit the Soho one regularly…never again

They left without notice in LIC a few weeks ago. I really miss their puffy pita.

it was all downhill once they stopped being a vegetarian place
StackIsMyCrack
They used to be really good. Then she went on some Bobby Flay challenge show, got a bunch of exposure, and went down hill.

About taim
Quantumercifier
Damn I used to love Taim. I remember one day the place was totally empty because there was a fire 2 stores down above the Pinkberry, on Spring St, killing a woman. But the falafel with the harissa sauce was excellent.
typicalbiscotti15
They used to be amazing and then tried to compete with Cava and quality just tanked to the point where I find their food disgusting
elforz
Yep, used to be good then turned into slop.

I hadn’t been since pre-pandemic but around 2016 Taim used to be excellent and cheap, so it’s sad to hear how much it had declined.
shitstormer21
Last time I ordered from here, I added an egg to my pita, like I often did in the past. It typically came sliced in the pita, so you could imagine the horror when it came with an entire hard-boiled egg thrown inside. Never been back since.

The one in the financial district was great the beginning of the year, terrible last time I went this fall. Definitely smaller portions and lower quality food. A real shame!
NYCmom327
They were supposed to open on the UWS 92 n broadway. After seeing the construction sign at the door for almost a year, a chinese restaurant took its place unannounced. It was a surprise to everyone.

Used to have a good date shake.

Kinda wild how fast this happened. I walked by last week and it already felt a bit off guess the menu changes didnt help. Sad to see another spot go under like that.

Overpriced, poor value. Won’t be missed.

Haven’t been to this location recently but went all the time for lunch when I worked on Bleecker. Tbf my memories are from the early 00s, shrinking portion sizes costs you twice in the end

I’ve tried Taim in Fidi multiple times and not once have they gotten the order right. The employees are rude, the food is meh at best…..good riddance

I sent the CEO of the PE firm who owns Taim an email a few weeks ago letting them know this location was filthy. You’ll be shocked to know I never heard back.

Taim on UWS and UES never even opened.

Taum closed? Well, now I falafel.
brooklynbotz
Last time I ate there I took a bite and there was a chunk of metal in my food.
Professional-Tie4883
health inspector for nyc here, they got closed for having lots of mouse droppings. sounds like they were robbing the community too
bkpunk
The old OG Taim was so good. I used to say that I would order and eat it if they served it from a porta potty in Times Square. The chain it became is shamefully bad.

I loved this place but they did give me food poisoning one time so I can’t say I’m surprised lol

I used to LOVE this place when they were just a food truck circa 2012-ish. It used to be great but admittedly I haven’t had in a few years. PE ruins everything!!

Used to be one of the falafels in town IMO, I remember being excited and eating there everyday when they opened their shop on 22nd.
Quickly tho their QC went way down, and their falafels became when and cold, fucking terrible.
Never have I seen a restaurant lose so much quality in such a short amount of time, I stopped going and 22nd street location closed.
ZRufus56
It’s a real shame. Since Taim partnered with a national group, the QC seems to have fallen off. FYI, here is the news on Taim being sold to the larger restaurant group.
