My friend has “cooked” this duck, and is bragging about it. Specifically, after I commented about it being “blue” he responded, “only way to eat duck”. Let me know what you all think

I’m not a fan of blue steak, let alone any poultry that under, that’d be a hard no from me

  2. haggislasagne

If by “blue” he means “close enough to still being alive that it can feel sadness”, then yes. It’s blue.

  3. No I would not eat this. Medium rare for me, I don’t mind rare if I know the source of the duck but my preference is still medium rare.

And fwiw I am a fine dining chef of 25 years.

Honestly it looks like it was under thawed, still frozen in the center. I don’t believe your friend actually knows how to cook, but probably thinks they do. And to be clear I know plenty of home cooks who make absolutely delicious food.

  4. I would absolutely eat that, no doubt about it. Cant go to jury duty if im shitting my brains out.

  5. I’d probably eat it, I’d just ask you to cook it first

Without a reasonable doubt. Hell to the naw.

A quack quack here, and a quack quack there.

To much quack so I’ll pass

Bro briefly showed this duck a picture of an oven and then served it. A good surgeon could probably resuscitate that thing.

No. Please dont eat that. They may have seared the outside nicely but it is absolutely raw inside. Some people like steak “blue” but its not appropriate to serve duck like this. Politely ask to cook it a bit more and if not say no thank you but please dont eat that and risk getting sick.

  11. You serve duck either pink or past pink. This is purple.

  12. BeaverBoyBaxter

    No.

First, this isn’t “blue rare”, it’s just raw.

Second, this is not safe nor is it desirable from a texture or taste perspective.

  13. metametapraxis

Nope. I don’t need potentially lifechanging food poisoning.

  14. No, and I like proper med rare duck, that’s not blue it’s just raw

  15. Delicious_Ad823

Looks like the inside was almost frozen when it went on the heat. Hard pass

  16. Quantum168

No, ask your friend/partner to take 2 courses of anti parasitic medication if he’s eating all his meat basically raw.

  17. atagoodclip

No, I wouldn’t. I’m under the impression that you have to cook poultry to at least 160 degrees F. An I wrong?

  18. Dodgeballs2018

TIL there is a stage before blue called purple

  19. peremadeleine

I did that once. Didn’t leave the toilet for the next 2 weeks. Do not eat that. It will taste amazing, and you will absolutely regret it

  20. AztecLawyer

Wild or farmed? Wild, I would eat it, but most folks would cook it a few more minutes. Farmed, heck no, needs more time.

  21. festhebiologychef

This duck is raw as hell still. I love blue steak and undercooked game. But this is a hard pass.

  22. JtDaSaiyan

I ain’t never in my life heard eating duck blue.

  23. pasrachilli

Only if I really wanted worms or maybe some new bacterial friends to fight my gut biome.

  24. In the words of Gordon Ramsay, “that duck is so raw that a skilled veterinarian could still save it.”
