I have this one in orange that my grandma gave me in ‘07 when I got my first post-college apartment. Don’t use it often but it works amazingly
Engchik79
My parents have this exact one. In red. From 1971 🙂 also a wedding present!

Would you care to share your Wassail recipe? I have one from the 1960’s with orange juice, instant tea, cloves etc but it’s awful with liqueur added.

That’s because there were/are no other Rivals…
I’ll see myself out!

I was given one like this. I’m not a fan as much as newer ones because you can’t lift the ceramic out to clean it, it’s all one piece, and there’s no warm setting.

Got an orange one, best thing ever. Cooks lower and slower than new ones. Pain to clean but worth the effort.

I’ve had one similar to this that I think was a wedding gift to my parents many years ago, though I’ve never used it myself over lead fears. I did get a test kit and swabbed just one small area on the bowl. The swab didn’t seem to indicate a positive result but I still can’t convince myself it’s safe to use.

I still have the same one. Got it in 1982.

Well, someone hasn’t seen “This is Us” yet. Grew up with this one but can’t bring myself to use it anymore…

I still have my old orange one. Mine got so hot onetime it cracked my countertop. I have to put it on a cutting board if Im going to use it for 4+ hours.

Brings back the feels for sure. My mom rocked unbelievable cabbage rolls from one of these that still bring back memories for better and worse even 50+ years later. Time flies folks, you won’t understand until you understand.

Idk I’ve seen *This is us*

I love it. I have a fantastic roasting pan that was a wedding gift to my parents back in 1957. It’s precious to me. Sadly someone ran it through the dishwasher. It took some of the beauty but it’s still the best pan ever!

That’s the one we had, in that exact color 😊💚

We have the same one. Right now it’s cooking salsa chicken for Christmas dinner

LOL ..I have two exactly like that I received as wedding shower gifts. They still work perfectly and I wouldn’t trade for a brand new model.

My aunts made that pot. Rival was a Kansas City based business, but they built factories in rural MO (Sweet Springs, Clinton). They were some of the first factories in the region to hire women and they didn’t require them to have a HS diploma (bc so few women graduated in that era in poorer families). Working for Rival was steady work with good pay that kept them afloat as good jobs left rural MO. The women didn’t get hired for management jobs and it wasn’t union, but abusive men didn’t last long at those sites.
The Rival factories shut down in 2002 and the workers were given help finishing their educations if needed. My dad said watching his sisters graduate after 30yrs was one of his proudest moments. He’d had to fight their parents like hell to graduate himself, so he understood what it meant for them. Both of my aunts are gone now, but its good to see their efforts carrying on like this. Thank you.

I have my mom’s from before I was born. I was born in 81

old crock pots are better

My aunt had this crockpot forever!
Odd-Tell-5702
My mom got this in the 70s also and I have it now.

Yup, I have my husband’s grandmother ‘s. It’s just like that one. It works great. It seems like the newer crockpots get to hot
nosidrah
I have the same one. It’s great for making a single meal for me and my wife. It’s a pain to clean though.

Back when stuff was made to last.

🤣I been married 34 years and he came with a crock pot that still works!

The only thing I like about the old ones is they don’t have an indicator light to show when the power is on.

I have the same one (just slightly different pattern) that I inherited from my dad! I don’t know what year he got it but my mom said he already owned it when they got married, which was in the 80s. It works great. And is a really nice reminder of him, especially when I make something he used to make. It’s nice to own something with a history.
SoyJibaraDePR
I still have my mom’s.
Conscious_Skirt_61
I have that in my cabinet.
Emotional_Bonus_934
My parents had that one. Avocado green.

My mom has one from ‘72

The same exact one is is my kitchen. I “borrowed” it from my childhood home when I moved out in 1992. Still works.

I get all weepy when I see posts like this because I miss mine very much. It croaked years ago, but I’ve never found one as good as this was.

I have that same pot (different design on the shell, but same reddish crock inside). My grandmother got it from a bank as a bonus for opening an account; she had no idea what to do with it so it sat in its box in the basement for about 30 years. When I got married in ‘05 I took it with me. She was gone by then but my grandfather was still around and was happy to see it get used.
As the crock part doesn’t come out I usually put a plastic crock pot liner in it to make it easier to clean. I like it better than the modern ones because “low” really means low, not “boils dry in four hours”.

My mauve Pennsylvania Dutch style one is a gift from my mom over 30 years ago. I’m still using it.
minimalistboomer
Have been scouring the thrift stores for one from that era, they’re the best.

We have its twin, which we still use, esp for chili.

What, no ten programmable functions through an LCD screen?!
No Internet connectivity to send a notification to your phone to tell you when it’s done?
^(Wait, I don’t think they’ve gone there yet. Better not give them ideas.)
indiana-floridian
As far as i know this is the original. Whatever year they came out, it was this style + color. 1969 ish.
I’m 69F. Graduated HS in ’74. I think these came out when the green kitchens + green refrigerators were popular.
ZookeepergameSea2383
I made fondue in this tonight. I bought it yesterday at savers. I like the size. My only problem with it is the crockpot doesn’t come out. It’s like screwed in and it makes it harder to clean unless it’s just stuck with grime?
dearstudioaud
I have the same one in the garage. I had to upgrade to a bigger one and well…. The lid has a few chips. Still, it got me through my single days.
ActuatorSmall7746
I bought one of those at thrift store! Love it and suits my needs.
SwimmingHand4727
I still have the one the neighbors gave my parents for Christmas in the original box! I have a newer one with the removable Corning ware casserole I use. I don’t have the heart to get rid of theirs.
Ok_Conclusion_7103
My mom has 1 just like it and I’ve been through 3 since I married in 1998 🤣
