Are those the canned La Consteña pickled jalapeños lol

  2. Stinky-Alpaca

Not sure exactly what that is but it’s definitely not a banh mi

  3. It aint much as far as bahn mis go, but fuck yea atleast its a start

  4. Congrats! All it takes is one new place opening for the demand to grow, and maybe more places will be open to setting up near you!

That’s a decent hoagie. Not a Bahn Mi sandwich.

This looks…okay. I’d happily eat it but probably wouldn’t order it again. I want mayo on the bottom bread; a fine julienne on the pickled carrot + onion; raw jalapeño + cucumber sliced thin; way more cilantro than you would ever put on any other sandwich (stem & all, just trimmed); and in a world with a loving God, a nice thick smear of pâté on the top bread.

You give me all that & you can keep the fries and pickle spear. I’ll live without the pâté if you make me but I’ll be thinking about it the entire time and I want that bitch extra saucy to make up for it. The rest is pretty much non-negotiable.

Having said all that, I am happy for your little redneck town 🫶.

ETA: hoisin on banh mi is real small town type shit. You should strive to make roast pork good enough not to need it.

Hell yeah gotta start somewhere!! Banh mi is the best

  8. Everybody clowning on you, but no one providing good info. Basically everything is not quite right for a banh mi. Except maybe the roast pork.

Should be fresh jalapeños, pickled carrots, not hoisin, and a crusty French loaf. Should also have some pate and more cilantro.

Also, for what it’s worth, I’d still eat that sandwich. But I’d be annoyed if I ordered a banh mi and you served me that.

Not sure your town still has had a Bahn Mi

  10. Main-Elevator-6908

No sweetheart. That’s not a banh mi.

  11. General-Pin-1349

Good start! Maybe try an authentic recipe for one? Im guessing you just used what was on hand?

Sure, it’s not authentic. But any effort at all is cooler than no effort. Pretty cool Vietnam culture is able to reach your small town. I’m sure some Vietnamese would be proud.

  13. ThatsRobToYou

Ummmmmm. I’m just so sad your first (I assume) bahn mi is this.

  14. Federal_Pickles

Let me know when y’all make the banh mi!

  15. ChalkLicker

I like where you’re going with this. Keep at it. The more you make, the better you’ll get at it. Bravo.

Not really bahn mi but still looks like it would taste good

You would have to banh mi from that restaurant if they served that to me
