KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo’s Blue Dolphin restaurant spent Christmas providing a free meal for anyone who needed one for the 48th straight year.

The tradition began in the late 1970s and they served ham steak, turkey, prime rib, rice pudding and dinner rolls yesterday.

The Greek-American restaurant opened at noon and dozens of people were lined up and ready.

Co-owner Peter Stamos says the free Christmas meal began with his grandfather at the Rex Cafe, which later became the Blue Dolphin.
