Snagged these for $370 total. Do these work well together, and was this a good purchase? Any tips on these appliances before getting started? Total newbie here.

I am not familiar with the grinder, but the bambino is a very solid machine and will be a great gift that gives for many years to come.

I recently got the casabrews 3700 and waiting on the sette 30 arrive so a very similar setup, hoping the sette 30 is a good purchase

If you’re just getting into it, then see if you guys enjoy the process and along the way you will see what you enjoy most. Everyone has different work flows/idea of what tastes good or bad. Good luck and welcome to the club!

Heard that grinder is loud as balls but that’s a really good deal

I have the Sette 30 with the 270 adjustment ring. It’s okay. Bit loud.

If I were to buy again, I’d buy a better one.

I started with a BBE and made some really tasty shots with it. Enjoy great coffee!

The Sette (especially if you get the 270 adjustment ring) is more than capable enough for the Bambino.

Tbh your partner can probably get by and started without the adjustment ring & if they get really into the hobby and start weighing their doses & extractions and getting more accessories, then you could surprise them with the 270 adjustment ring.

I had two Sette 270 grinders… both died less than a year since purchase.

Cool on paper, terrible in actual use.

They are plastic inside, plastic gears, etc. Sette 30 will definitely not be better.

  9. The bambino is as basic as it gets around here but I personally have one and love it. I was shopping for a $1500-2500 espresso machine, picked up a secondhand bambino to hold me over and ended up deciding I didn’t need to spend any more because the bambino really does the trick once you get the hang of dialing it in. I would use the single wall doubleshot basket and dial around 18-19g of beans with 2x that volume as your final shot volume and watch a few videos on how to properly use the Bambino. I would always do a “custom” shot by pressing and holding the button rather than relying on the pre-programmed timed single and double shots that usually end before they’re supposed to, and IMO a “double” these days is really all you want to brew. ~18g in, ~36g out within 30-40 sec. If it’s coming out way too fast, grind finer. If it’s clogging or coming out really slow, grind coarser.

If you don’t have a scale, you’ll need one! It’s nearly impossible to work these things with any consistency or sanity without one.

I don’t know much about that grinder. I really enjoy the DF64 and DF83 grinders as they offer a nice large flat burr for a relatively cheap price, especially secondhand. I’m sure you’ll get great cups out this setup tho.
