Writing this wholeheartedly to recommend llis in NYC
(North Williamsburg, just across the river). I had an absolutely fantastic experience when I went in 2024 and while he ever died and loved many NYC restaurants, including my infatuation with La Bernadin, where I've been five times, I feel like Ilis never gets the love on forums it deserves. I absolutely feel they deserved one or two Michelin stars and surprised to see if they have none at this time. And absolutely beautifully designed restaurant with open kitchen. A very adventurous menu which may turn some off, but I remember eating something like raw elk with cricket dip.

Pics from yelp as I only took videos. Not sure why they have 3.5 stars on Yelp, but people mostly seems to complain about the price

I dined at ACME over a decade ago when Mads was in charge of the kitchen there and while I find his food delicious, it seems like he can’t shake his ties to Noma. I understand that’s his roots and background but his food just looks like it’s Noma cosplay almost to the point of absurdity/hilarity. Maybe that’s over critical and like I said not my intention because I do find his food quite tasty.

They got a lot of flak for being snooty and star entitled at a high price point as soon as they opened and moved in, lots of style over substance and seemingly vapid shock factor (like raw elk with cricket dip haha). Ambition and arrogance are fine lines to tread.
I actually lolled at the squid pic though that is a comically bad looking plate complete with the three flowers. Bell peppers stuffed with mint? Not my cup of tea but glad you enjoyed it!!
