How is that even possible? Can you elaborate more on the style of store. The most I have ever clocked in on tips throughout all the cafes I have worked at has been max 12-14 for a peak but never this continues or throughout whole shift

Jealous! I’m also ATX based and the best I got is 15/tips but never enough hours.

We had a $250 Saturday for tips after thanksgiving. We’re open 8 hours though. It was still really excited for us!

I mean good for you, but it sort of sad you to rely on tips.

the only reason i’ve stayed at my barista job so long is i make about $100-150 per 6hr shift that’s splitting w one other and tip out included, im at 15 an hr rn after 5 years

Yall have some crazy jobs bc my college town coffee bar pulled 200 in tips daily. Sometimes up to 400 on busy weekends/graduation time. To be fair i think everyone was afraid of getting cancelled for not tipping bc we r a super liberal school. I miss it tho we would get them in cash.

crazy how much tips make a difference.. my boba shop owners flat out REFUSE to turn online tips for us. it’s such a slap in the face, but getting a different job is also damn near impossible, so it’s hard to leave it too sigh

That’s awesome! I usually make about $4-5 an hour in CC tips and only $10-$15 a shift in cash tips

This seems pretty average to me, I always go for the most expensive place in town (used to work at a Michelin starred place).

I look for serving jobs based on the menu prices. You should average 150 at a decent place, anyplace with entrees being at least 40 for say pasta and at least 60-70 for steaks. During busy seasons you should be able to make at least 200 a shift.

I’ve had many shifts where I make 3-400, sometimes even more.

Also look at the wine menu. Lots of places have expensive food but look for laces that offer lots of 300 or more bottles of wine. Also if it has expensive champagne available for say at least 500-1000 that’s the place you want to be.

I’m not saying you’re going to sell $1000 bottle of wine everyday or even every week, but you want to be able to have that for the big spenders.

  13. We only get cash tips, which usually averages about 50/week, each.

But our hourly is higher than pretty much anywhere in the area, and every employee is eligible for a yearly raise.

Worked as the head barista from 2012-16 at a 3rd wave in a very wealthy area.

It was right before iPad registers made it possible to tip with a card transaction.

We made $15-20 in tips a day.

Cherish what you have. Cherish. It.

For thanksgiving i made $286 for 6 hours, although it was just me and people were extra thankful. However our cafe is very very popular so we make $120 minimum every weekend split by three. I’m also holding on as long as i can

Hell fucking yeah! I work at a chocolate shop and i just got a paycheck that adds up to 34 bucks an hr. I think getting a job at a chocolate shop during the holidays is the method.
