Oh my goodness, you are so lucky to be able to do this. I’m also planning a Japan trip in my future and ramen will be my number one activity.

I’m surprised by the hard boiled egg. Is that common in Japan as a topping? I just assumed that soft boiled was standard.

Where? Why do you guys refuse to write the names of the places?

They all look amazing, except bowl number 2. That one makes me sad with it’s terribly overcooked egg and sloppy plating. The attention to detail that makes me trust a shop and appreciate their effort just isn’t there.

Which was your favourite and why?

Mmmmmm Ichiran, I haven’t had it for so long since there were always a long queue for that

This is sooooooo beautiful, im gonna have to try and make some of these! Question about the first one, if you leave the green onions and seaweed in big pieces like that, is the flavor still gonna come out into the broth? I thought you had to get em in smaller pieces to get more flavor.

I want them all. Now.

Normally I don’t tend to suggest Ichiran as I believe it is wildly overhyped while actually being just slightly above average in taste and considerably more expensive than others, but seeing how many others you tried, then it’s a good point of comparison. If anyone is thinking of visiting Japan and are planning on having ramen only a few times, please avoid Ichiran. As I said before, its just barely above average in quality while being more expensive then average. please ask around first and see if you can find someone living close to where you’ll be (in subreddits or stuff) and ask where the good spots are. While you might enjoy Ichiran, you would likely miss out on great places and end up thinking that ramen not only isn’t anything special, but also that it is expensive for what it is. Hope this helps anybody!
