Tokyo Central is having its grand opening at the Bay Street Emeryville from Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, to Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, the company announced on its website. This is the first Tokyo Central in the East Bay and the second in the Bay Area after Cupertino.
As part of the store’s grand opening celebration, customers will be able to spin a wheel to win prizes, enjoy limited-time special prices and experience a “powerful” live dance performance that starts at around 10 a.m.
The first 100 customers will also receive a $10 gift certificate, according to the company.
“Tokyo Central is more than a store—it’s an immersive experience,” the company said on its website. “Our goal is to spark curiosity and share the spirit of Omotenashi—hospitality from the heart.”
Omotenashi is a Japanese philosophy based on selflessness and whole-hearted hospitality.
Tokyk Central is primarily a grocery store but doubles as a hybrid market, selling bento boxes, sushi and other Japanese specialties.
The new Tokyo Central is located at 5603 Bay St. in Emeryville.
