This is the wine menu for our local Italian restaurant. I don’t have much experience with Italian wine, so I was hoping you all could tell me what I should be drinking?

Oof, fairly weak list, especially the US wines, and especially the lack of vintages. If you’re curious to try Nebbiolo, the Viberti Barolo could be good, and for high-ish tier Sangiovese check out the Silvio Nardi Brunello. Ask them for the vintages on each- both of those wines are definitely designed for aging, so I would pick whichever is older in this case. If you’re looking to spend less, the Banfi Rosso di Montalcino is a classic elegant Sangiovese also.

Tenute Silvio or the Crognolo as a cheaper option. Can never go wrong with the riserva Chianti either.

I’ve had the Illuminati and it sort of turned me on to the great potential of Abruzzo.

Crognolo. At that price it’s a no brainer.

If you don’t want to go with the Nardi suggestion, you could try the Crognolo Super Tuscan from Sette Ponti. A younger vintage will be more forgiving than with the Nardi.

Rocco Delle Macie is an underrated Chanti – we toured the winery back in June followed by a tasting and it was very good – highly recommend.

Also, the Caymus bottle price .. how are we overlooking that? While it’s typically a “go-to” for most and a fine Napa, at that price, it’s almost a no-brainer if you’re looking for a fuller bodied cab.

Not a lot of distinctive offerings. I’d probably be keeping it simple with a Riserva Chianti

Nothing spectacular, but you’ll have a good time with that amarone

Nero d’Avola. I’m a sincilian wine convert. Love it.

The Col D Orcia Brunello isn t the Riserva I know and loved but It still gotta be a good bottle to enjoy…

This is not a great list but the prices are quite reasonable for a restaurant tbh. I would go with Crognolo on the low end or either of the Barolos at the high end

The domestic wines on this list are the vaguely upscale grape-based equivalent of cupcake flavored vape pens sold to teenagers.

  13. No-Specificity

I dont recognize any of these but generally Napa and maybe Santa Barbra would be okay

I’d go for the regliali, San polo or ceretto if going for a bottle. Skip all the USA wine, those are all junk giant producers.

  15. Illustrious-Seat-700

I enjoy the Belnero at that price point. Especially after it opens up or is decanted.

I’ve seen worse! Depends what you’re eating… give me an example of a dish you might order and I’ll tell you what I’d pair with it.

Wine. Water as well. Not in the same glass.
