The Pearl Street Family, owners of Pearl Street Grill & Brewery, has announced a new addition to its restaurant line-up. The former Brawler’s Back Alley Deli, located in the basement area of the Pearl Street Grill & Brewery, is undergoing significant changes as it prepares for the opening of Old City Pizza.
Once open, in late Q1 2006, Old City Pizza will feature brick-oven, Neapolitan-style pizza and homemade pasta crafted with premium flour imported directly from Italy.
“Our team discovered this product at the Pizza Expo in Las Vegas this past year,” says CEO Bill Casale. “Our goal is to feature high-end ingredients anchored by this pure wheat flour, D.O.P. San Marzano tomatoes, and Italian extra virgin olive oil.”
As for the operational aesthetics of the Neapolitan-style pizzeria, there will be a massive brick oven, a homemade pasta machine, and granite counters, along with a new glass door entrance on Seneca Street. As with all of the Pearl Street Family’s businesses, there will be an air of authenticism surrounding this newest undertaking – this one inspired by Old World Italy. Customers will be greeted by a new marquee sign, 3D murals, custom artwork, and all-new seating, lighting, and decor.
The menu will consist of approximately 12 varieties of Neapolitan-style pizzas, homemade pasta dishes, meatballs, and authentic Italian sandwiches and salads-all made from scratch with high quality, clean ingredients.
According to the operators, the concept is designed for both grab-and-go convenience and dine-in service for lunch, dinner, and pre-event meals. The venue will also serve SPoT Coffee hot and cold beverages.
Future plans for Old City Pizza include a tasting room for the new Fat Buffalo Distilling Co. (formerly Black Squirrel Distilling). All of these new additions are consistent with Pearl Street Grill & Brewery and Buffalo RiverWorks’ owner Earl Ketry, who imparts that he remains committed to the ongoing growth and reinvestment of downtown Buffalo.
