Very new to cookie decorating and still in the " playing around" phase of figuring it out, consistency wise and all. I did another set at the beginning of last fall. And everyone said my icing looked too wet, so this time my icing was " toothpaste consistency" it dried much faster than I'd anticipated so i had to improvise mid way through. The icing could have been thicker for the writing i think. Not sure. Spacing isnt the best on some. Family loved them though.

Any criticism is welcome, pick it apart, please just dont be mean

😂😂 I have a long way to go before I can sell these. Eventually thats the plan…yk aspiring baker/ decorator…wanting a bakery… i definitely want to get a projector so its easier to make multiples of the same design identical.

Your writing looks nice. Looks like you just need experience to get the right consistencies (like you said, different for flood and writing, etc.).

To get things like the trees more consistent, you can draw the shape first and then pipe over it. Kind of like a lot of decorators draw on the cookie with edible markers before piping. You could just use a toothpick to gently trace the shape on the flood icing. For the small batches you’re making, it’ll probably make more sense than using a projector anyway, and focuses more on skill building than tool dependency.

You’re on your way though. Well done 🙂

I think these look really good! I’m in the exact same place you are as far as experience goes, so I can’t offer helpful criticism but I’m super impressed that you didn’t use a projector for the lettering because they look great!

Your needle drag work on the far right looks awesome! You’re way ahead of me, there. I’m very amateur and have been trying lately too. I ended up going for thinner icing and dipping to do the marble look. I need to give flooding another try, my first attempts at flooding were rough. Your borders on all of them are amazing, solid. Your handwriting in frosting is amazing. Getting the sizing and spacing right will come with more practice, you definitely have the skills to get super good at this with more experience!
