The new owners have shared renovation updates on social media. The business said it needed to modernize electrical and plumbing systems but would keep the overall aesthetic in place, including Vic’s checkerboard floor and classic soda fountain counter and stools. Vic’s has said it is also keeping the same ice cream recipes, along with its red sauce and lime rickeys that have been a favorite over the decades.”Look at the line and when you see the line, you can just see the number of people who just came back for the grand reopening. Vic’s Ice Cream in Sacramento reopened on Saturday under new ownership, and promises “classic Vic’s flavors.”

The line went out the door and wrapped around the 1940’s establishment for its grand reopening.

The beloved Land Park ice cream and sandwich shop on Riverside Boulevard was started in 1947 and closed following the death of owner Craig Rutledge last March. The shop was co-founded by Rutledge’s father Ash and his friend Vic Zito.
