Hi everyone, Just wondering whether I should chop my asparagus back or leave it for the season? Still got a few months left of summer, had a pretty decent harvest of it through spring just don't want to end up killing it

Leave it. It’s gathering energy for the roots for next year’s production.

Leave it if you can, but if it’s causing too much shade over other plants, you can cut some down. It should still get enough energy for the root system.
Very hard to kill asparagus. I removed the plants about 5 years ago and I still get random sprouts that come up in the original bed.

Let it grow as long as it is green. It is strengthening the roots to give you more asparagus next spring, and if you cut it now it will hurt your yield.
I cut mine in the winter after it has turned sickly yellow. Or in the spring if I didn’t get it done earlier.

Leave it be until it yellows on its own. Then you can cut it about an inch above ground.
It will occasionally still produce more spears that you can harvest for a quick snack.

I usually cut mine down after they turn brown.

Leave it to senesce. It should turn brown and sometimes fall over. Then you should cut it. If you don’t have a true winter, cut it even if still green 3-4 months before you would expect your next season crop so the plant can rest and build strength.
