Hi all! First time overwintering a pepper, is it still alive? And number two, I have a heat mat and a light setup, if I keep the light on for 10-12 hrs a day, will it eventually come out of dormancy? If so, when?

Your soil looks very dry. You need to water it while over-wintering. You just water less.

Bringing them out you need to gradually add light. Start with 2-3 hours for 2-3 days. 3/4th day…go to 3-4 hours, etc. Every few days increase the light. You need to keep your soil moist. After about 4 or 5 days…you can start giving it a 50% diluted liquid balanced fertilizer. A little fresh worm castings and/or compost scratched into the top 2 inches of soil will help, too.

Make sure before you move it back outside once it’s revived…you need to harden it off like you do seedlings.
