MORRISTOWN, NJ — A new hot spot in Morristown has reviewers raving over its Italian cuisine.
Cotto, which opened just a few weeks ago, is already making a name for itself as a Morristown eatery. The elevated Italian establishment already has 4.8 stars out of five on Google Reviews, based on 47 reviews.
The eatery uses the space that was previously occupied by Guerriero’s, which operated at 90 South Street for 20 years before closing this summer. It’s the latest concept from Stirling Restaurant Group, which also owns Morristown’s Stirling Tavern and Dublin Pub, as well as the iconic Stirling Hotel in Stirling.
Offering traditional Italian dishes like pappardelle and casarecce, as well as innovative bites like eggplant parm croquettes and olive oil cake, Cotto had its patrons delighted.
“The food was SPECTACULAR. Truly a delicious menu full of diverse flavors and options. The cuisine was expertly prepared and we enjoyed an unbelievable meal from start to finish,” said one reviewer, who called her experience “impeccable.”
“A must try! The food was incredible! Unique options and everything exceeded our expectations,” another reviewer wrote.
The delicious food doesn’t come as a surprise to many, as the Cotto’s head chef is Jordan Petriello. Petriello worked in Michelin-star restaurants in New York City, as well as more local joints, including Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen in Morristown and Il Nido in Marlboro.
Reviewers also had plenty of nice things to say about the restaurant’s environment and wait staff. The establishment recently underwent some major renovations, adding leather booth seating, freshly painted walls, impressive light fixtures, and more.
“The ambiance was wonderful- a gorgeous aesthetic with a laid back, yet elegant and cozy vibe,” another Google Reviewer said. “The service was wonderful; knowledgeable, attentive, courteous, funny and nice.”
Cotto is open Tuesday to Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. It is closed on Mondays.
Hours are expected to extend in the future when Cotto drops its upcoming lunch menu.
