Star Rover, set to open on Feb. 26 in Houston, transforms Superica into a more casual steakhouse, blending Texas traditions with fresh elements.
HOUSTON — Superica in the Heights is getting a new look and a new name.
The restaurant, located at 1801 N. Shepherd Drive, is set to become Star Rover, a West Texas–inspired steakhouse from Rocket Farm Restaurants.
According to a statement from the restaurant group, Star Rover is scheduled to open Feb. 26 and is based on an existing concept in Nashville. The restaurant is described as drawing inspiration from traditional Texas steakhouses and the childhood experiences of chef and restaurateur Ford Fry.
The new menu will focus on steak dinners served with standard sides, along with shareable appetizers and house-made desserts. Cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks will also be offered.
The restaurant plans to continue weekend brunch, keeping some menu items familiar to Superica customers, including hot cakes.
In a statement, Fry said the concept is intended to offer a more casual, everyday steakhouse option while maintaining elements that Houston diners already enjoy.
Star Rover will also introduce a dining challenge that involves finishing a large rib roast and sides within a set time limit. Restaurant officials say guests who complete the challenge will receive the meal at no cost.
